Part-ex figures?

Featured Replies

I'm not a happy camper ... I was offered £1500 for my 2001 combi today, 102k, aircon, fogs, hearse rails, remap and PD160!

Then the cheeky sod said it was worth £3k every day of the week!

About a month ago i got just over 2200 for my red '04 1.9TDI combi (STD, no mods) (80,000miles) against the car i now have

Good God ... what made you do that ???

I would have thought that wasn't far off the mark for your car.

I agree!

Price sounds about right to me, if anything the remap and PD160 may have a negative effect on the value. Possibly remove those and return to standard, and get a few extra quid by selling the pd160 separatly.

I think I'll keep it and run it until it dies.

I was going to part chop it for a diesel smart, but what's the point in losing a load of money in trade-in to save a few bob in running costs??

Also, whats the point in owning a smart?

Cos they are fun.

Worth £3k to him is probably about right. AIUI, you usually reckon on a dealer trying to make up to £1500 on trade-in price, and since Combis are like hen's teeth, I reckon he'd have a good chance of making that sort of money for it...

Just sell private, hassle i know, but youll get more money for it

7 years old, Over 100k and remapped - those will knacker the value!

You are probably right, but I've got the lower emission engine, it's very economical because of the remap/pd160, it's been looked after as a family car and has not done the motorway system as a rep mobile although it is bloody quick if the need arises. And no hassle from plod cos it looks standard :)

It's a bloody brilliant little car actually, which is why I won't give it away for £1500!

None of those reasons will be a consideration for a Part Exchange Valuation though.

Absolutely right, they are just reasons why I don't be part-ex the car - may as well pile up banknotes and set fire to them as accept the figure offered.

Well stick it in the classifieds then

Or as it's already been said....run it till it goes pop.....

Theres positives to doing that, but i always think that its a risky one, because if the car goes youre in a rush to get a new one, might not always buy the right car. But at least you can save and have a nice wod ready for when it does.

Yea, may stick it in Autotrader this week.

I'm a bit isolated without wheels here although I've got a 400 Burgman to commute on until the right car comes along

(if it does sell, Sod's Law dictates it will p*ss down everytime I get on the bike!)

At least you have the bike, ill have to get a hire car
