Featured Replies

Spunds like great fun, cant wait to see the pics.

I might have asked earlier but why is it called "The Mongrel"?

Good work J!

Yeah, Boscombe has one of the longest runways in the country, 10,500ft or 1.9 miles. Possibly the longest? I'm sure there are those on here more qualified to comment...

I was once able to drive down the runway at RAF Leuchars, near St Andrews which is pretty long too - 1.5 miles. Seems to go on for ever, plus I couldn't get over how wide the white stripes were down the middle :D

Look forward to seeing the article...

Because it's made up of the parts of lots of other furbies - mainly the TDI chassis, and the vRS running gear, but there's bits and bobs all over the shop - even has a smattering of seat too - gearbox, strut brace, brakes, splitter....

Rumour has it that Heathrow 09L/27R is the longest at 3594m or 2 and a quarter miles if you prefer. But not many people get to drive along it in a car ......

Yes, Heathrow does have the longest piece of runway in the country, correct. I was thinking more of places you might have half a chance of using :)

So concentrated more on RAF bases etc.... - but you're quite right, should have put that in the earlier post
