Mongrel's first proper photoshoot tomorrow!

Featured Replies

Location and time being kept secret, but it's going to involve access to a RAF base (from what I can tell) Might mean use of a runway ;)

More info tomorrow night. Really looking forward to the mongrel's first proper magazine feature.

nice :D good luck

which magazine??

Keeping that secret for now as well, but those who went on the Ring trip at Easter will probably know - especially Makefish who was surprised how well his car drove in the right hands of said magazine chap. ;)

Nice 1 jason let us see some of the pics and let us know what mag so i can reaqd the right up

Nice one J, look forward to the write up

Of course I know who you are on about and which magazine but it's safe to say that pretty much any car in the hands of this guy round the Nurburgring would be an awesome experience,.................................. blew me away with unbelievable entry speed and commitment through the corners :). I believe that you and Will had a similar experience in that Schnitzer BMW 1 Series!!! :D

jase is this up my way?

what i was wondering is, is there going to be any scantily clad young ladies sprawled on the bonnet like in the very classy publication call max power

Sounds great have fun.

Well - It's been done. :) And although we didn't get access to the airbase / runway (big RAF base near Stonehenge) we did get some great shots at other spots and on the move. A total of 3 Gb of photos were taken. :D

When I find out when it's in said magazine, I shall let everyone know. :) Should be by Xmas apparently.

:wrthless:

come on one sneak photo and give us a clue are we looking for a car mag with free chav neon lights or one with out these sort of free gifts?

  • Author

chavvy free for sure. ;)

Oh I don't really care - It will be "Performance Tuner"

Speaking of which we tested the performance using a racelogic Pbox satnav type thing

0-60 6.3 seconds

30-50 1.9 seconds :D (in 2nd)

50-70 2.3 seconds :D (including shifting to 3rd! )

0-100 about 15.5 seconds, but with a dodgy start. The chap is going to merge in the 0-100 with my best 0-60 to give a better idea. Should be low 14s, possibly high 13s.

AND if I can reach 100mph in the high 13s, I reckon that means a 13 second 1/4 mile. :woot: (with some santa pod practise :o)

That'll be the Empire test pilot school base then (Boscombe Down)

Nice one, well worth a place in a mag with all that hard work!

Yeah - Couldn't believe the size of the runway. Most of the planes could land sideways on it. Second longest in europe apparently!

Well done on the Mag photoshoot......and that airbase is the best place to see new planes being tested long before they go into service.....watched the new Typhoon there

Fair play fella. Will have to keep an eye out for it. I'm trying to resist modding mine but I feel the strength getting weaker.

I just measured the runway on google maps, using the scale and a ruler. I made it about 10,500 feet! That's over 2 miles I think! Hell!

I think it's about two miles long so that sounds right Have a feeling that RAF Fairford ( opposite direction from us) is about the same if not longer

i believe fairford is as it use to have the big bombers stationed there that needed loads of runway. dont know how long the runway is at brize norton but ive been most of the way down it with a blue light escort :D
