Cigarette lighter stuck

Featured Replies

Hi,

My wife's Fabia has stuck cigarette lighter in the console near handbrake. The plug is stuck into on position and is not releasing. Lighter fuse is ok. Is there any trick, how to get it removed, without resorting to removing the whole console

Regards.

Pull. Imagine it`s a £20 pound note stuck halfway in a change machine. Give it a good yank. It comes out honest.

Do some Fabias hactually have lighters....im on my 2nd 1 and neither this or my first 1 has...

Speaking as a confirmed chain smoker with 2 fabias under my belt i can confirm i have.

53 Plate SDI, ciggie lighter.

06 VRS ciggie lighter.

Maybe the Mrs instructed the dealer to remove it.........Just a thought

Thanks for advice, but it is stuck in on position and it means it is fully inside, so there is no corner where to grab it either by hand or using pincers.

That should be impossible on any recent installation I've seen. The switch bit pushes down inside a plastic sleeve that's the part of the lighter you hold it by when it's hot.

Mine just had a 12v socket

I have the exact same problem - did you get it up or does it need to be replaced?

Take out fuse before doing anything. They're cheap so not worth worring about damage and anyway it must be damaged to have stuck - put in WD40, pliers on top of handle and turn, once moving start turning and pulling.

is the 12v socket same shape etc as a cigarette socket?

Yes, on mine it looks like a lighter from the top, says 12v on it and is just a plastic plug. Stops things falling into the open socket.

Edit

The socket is identical, just the lighter pull out part is replaced by the plug.
