Company Car: What Can I get away with??

Featured Replies

Ok Its an Octy II 2.0tfsi, its a company car and I want to know what I can get away with doing.

I have only done 6k but I am already looking at Remap (oh where to go to- so many choices/costs)

What about changing the exhaust (maybe not full system just a bit to go with more increases from remap if it would make a difference?)

Abything else I could 'get away with' without completely bolloking up my service plans/warranty?

In all fairness mate - nothing. Company cars dont belong to you, they belong to the company. Sucks I know.

Last thing youd want would be to have an accident, not be covered 'company insurance policys will be for standad cars only' and lose your job.

Magic tree air freshener. :)

Fiddling with company cars is a risky business (unless you OWN the company :D) , I have been driving company cars for donkeys and it's always been really tempting to remap/change bits of the engine/add a body kit or whatever but the most i've ever managed is a few minor cosmetic tweaks.

Bluefin. :)

As others have said.

The company would have to declare and mods including chipping. They in good faith will say there is none. You have an accident, insurance wont pay, so your firm will come after you for the cost as well as have your job from you in the process.

My firm have covered themselves on this, and clearly state I cannot modify the car from manufacturers spec without consent in writing. This includes fitting/replacing/modifying handsfree phone, stereo, mechanicals (suspension, exhaust etc etc) UNLESS fitted as genuine replacements for manufacturer parts (ie approved or OEM).

If you want something to mess with, then buy your own.

Alternativly, find out if you can opt out and got for Cash Allowance instead :)
