Skoda Superb Elegance TDI V6 (2006)

Featured Replies

seen one for £9988 is this a good price?

i currently drive a 1998 passat and looking to move on. the elegance seems well spec'd for the price. is the v6 TDi engine worth looking at or brst avoided?

what is the VED group?

V6 TDI isn't the best, its very old technology. The PD130 (1.9) is a better engine imho.

I have a 2005 model exactly the same. I love the car but a few people say the engine can give problems. I took out a poll many months ago of all V6 TDI drivers and could only find one where the engine had blown up as they say. Everyone else was extremely pleased. The Car tax (215 emimisions) is £300 from next year (£210 this year). But it's worth it for the real cool sound - and it really sounds like a V6 petrol from inside.

Try one and see. When I saw my Dealer last month about something else he said that the Selling price of mine (2005 with 26000) was about £10500. That's what they would sell it for Iguess not what I would get PX.

Hope this helps

Regards

John

:+1:

Yep.

Normally Roto's first in with this comment though... (Has anyone seem him?)

He must be on holiday - as you are right he usually tells us what he thinks of the 2.5V6 TDI.

John

Yeah, you could be right.

Despite the usual 4-pot vs V6 debate... I think the power & economy vs tax amount as stated above should kill off the V6's chances.

V6 = 170bhp, 35-45mpg, £300pa tax

AWX TDI = 130bhp, 45-55+ mpg, £140pa tax

Any more questions? ;)

But you can't beat the sound - and I think the fuel economy is ok for a V6. I would rather pay the extra and have the V6 rather than a 4 pot Diesel. That's the reason I am not even thinking of a new Superb as I would not want the petrol V6 and they don't do a Diesel V6 yet. My dealer says that they have had quite a number of potential buyers moan because there is not a V6 Diesel and this is being fed back to Skoda. Whether they decide to put a V6 in the range remains to be seen - I hope they do though.

Sound? Diesel?? Hmm.

In any case - if they do it'd have to be better than the one in the mk1.

Hey, Even I like my Massey Ferguson.

It may have been old technology but found mine to be spot-on for 2.5 years and was sad to trade it in. It does have a fairly expensive cambelt change at 4 years. Price seems reasonable depending on mileage. Road tax is going to be expensive.

OK, based on cost the 4-pot wins over 6-pot. Also, in the same way 3-pot wins over 4-pot - anyone fancies Superb 3-cyl 1.4TDI ? :P

Secondly, these are my facts, I check them at least 12-14 times a year

V6 6-spd TDI - quiet, comfortable cruise at 140mph for hours at a time :)

AWX TDI - noisy b@$^@&d :o and cannot do it (127mph max speed)

Ever since I changed from Octavia TDI110 to Superb, I am saving at least an hour on every trip. Plus I arrive in much better shape

Finally, Icesave just went into administration:thumbdwn: - I have my faith in FSCS compensation scheme now or there won't be a next car after my current Superb :worried:

Heave-ho, slight change of tack here...!

Not sure about this, but is Icesave some offshore internet concern? If so, may not be so good. I think FSCS will only cover UK-based deposits. But quite happy to be proven wrong.

OK - back to the thread...

quite coincidentally, just heard on the radio something about Icesave depositors being refused access to their money?!

well given the top speed of 125mph and pretty good fuel ecconomy and a six speed box and the bmw look for low pounds......yes i wudnt mind a 3cyl pot superb lol

Would be interested to see how the mpg tails off on each engine as you increase speed. I thought on the v6 it didn't drop as much at motorway speeds as the 1.9tdi does, but the 1.9 is still more economical at any given speed given the v6 never really got above 50mpg, and average of 40 over 2.5 years.

I still would prefer the V6 over the 1.9 any day - for all the reasons quoted above.

I think it's a mid-sized Icelandic bank but it does (did) offer some internet based accounts.

Anyway, you're right about the FSCS, it only covers banks with UK banking licences.

Whichever, it's not good :(

True... clearly not in this country at that speed, but the theory works in practice.

This is probably the main reason anyone would buy a V6 TDI.

125?

That'd take some time to get to... :P

Last addition to this sub-thread. I promise:O. But apparently: "Eligible savers with Icesave are protected by the Icelandic Depositors' and Investors' Guarantee Fund (IDIGF), up to a limit of the first 20,887 euros of their deposits. As an Icelandic bank Icesave is not automatically a member of the FSCS, but it opted to become a 'top-up' member. This means that eligible retail savers with Icesave's UK branch whose savings exceed the Icelandic limit would benefit from top-up compensation from the FSCS covering the amount over the Icelandic limit up to the new FSCS compensation limit for deposits of £50,000."

So, Diesel V6, not too bad then :D

More like 110mph with the 1.4TDI...And 0-60 in 19s

And to keep the thread sidetracked :P, Icesave was normal savings account, part guaranteed by Iceland and the rest by UK, only the resourceful country of Iceland has just gone bankrupt together with its banks. In any case, Darling promised to pay back the deposits in full  and then pursue Iceland for the money. :orb_wise_

well what skoda say in their specifications says it all.......ok it might need some time to get there......but its a luxury cruiser......if i want to go faster quicker then id go for the top of the range

Ahh! Yes, I remember hearing this on the radio now.

Thanks, and now back to the thread! :)

Good luck...

Hi folks,

I come seeking advice. Currently driving a 2006 2.0l Octavia Sport which has 119,000 miles on the clock (ex-police car PSNI) and to be honest, not the best of trims. It has a few exterior bumps and holes and needs a whole new roof liner and because of which I am getting low trade in prices. (£3,000 top).

The economy is great and I can easy get past 50 mpg conservatively cruising. Been looking at this: http://www.usedcarsni.com/33988083?grtkey=1276121756_51a58cb92ed88c88ecdae8812eed158a be advised I am in Northern Ireland so all our cars are substantially more expensive than in the mainland.

Does the car drive alot different? Is there anything massively different about the running costs?
