Sorry to hear this. Citizens Advice would be your best call for up to date advice, depending on how you paid the deposit, who the terms were held by etc.

Sorry to hear that.

Unfortunately ordinary customers tend to be at the bottom end of the list when it comes to this sort of thing.

Might be worth contacting the receivers as well as CAB and seeing if there's any way they can complete the transaction if the car is already there - they might be happy to have a ready customer for the car

So you've paid the full balance of the sale - all that was left was to drop off your old car and collect the new one?

You really need proper legal advice on this matter given the sums involved.

I'd phone a couple of local solicitors quickly

If you have paid the business for the car then IIRC the car is in fact yours, but as already said you need to speak to a proper lawyer and fast. Make sure you take all receipts and any bank statements showing payments made with you too.

The sooner you get them involved the more chance you have of getting your money back or the car you have paid for.

It happened to my mum last yr with a furniture store, I believe if you paid with either a credit card or a car finance loan this will cover you, but cash or personal cheque won't, not a nice place to be and it's time these companies were forced to insure against this to protect the customer.

you should also contact the reciever / liqidator.. they will prob be happy to complete the deal - unless streets were selling at a loss
