Which Mods??????

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I've not long had my standard Octavia mk1, however I want to tinker!!!! What shall I do first - air intake? dump valve? exhaust etc??? not to mention which ones? I want performance but I really want reliability!!!!! Any help welcome!!!!

Cheers!

Sort out the handling and the brakes first.

ARB and some coilovers, strut brace, better discs and pads, set of decent tyres etc.

Then a remap  Or do the air intake and exhaust etc then get a custom remap.

As mentioned a remap, some good deals going around at the moment. A dump valve will make no difference to the performance, just make more noise - which is fine if that's your thing.

i was thinking dump valve or cold air intake first, but which ones???? i was looking at the forge ones! any good????

Which Octy Mk1 have you got, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, vRS, etc, give us a clue ????

If vRS, get the brakes and suspension sorted first then you can fully use what you already have under the bonnet.

No point in going flat out if it will not stop or handle.

hi, sorry yeah i have a 1.8t vrs. Are the EBC brakes any good for it?

Tarox all the way

We have a discount of 20% on discs and pads at the moment too ;)

ive got ebc discs and black diamond pads and they work really well

only thing is they tick on the outside.

i had turbo grooved ones from ebay before that wore out with my original pads after 1 year. they were quiet on the outside but you could hear them on the inside. these are like std on the inside but when you are drivin they make a plastic like ticking and gets worse under mid-light breaking. i have checked and cant find aut catchin

wierd.

i got them coz they were the cheapest out of all the ones ive been recommended and they are a stopgap to last till i can afford the compbreak kit, but i have now seen that these are more than good enough for the job i want.

It all depends how much you want to spend. A rear ARB is probably the best first modification. Then suspension, next is brakes, then power. It's no good fitting great brakes if the suspension can't controll it (much like when adding power). - The car will nose dive heavily and the rear wheels will become very light indeed.

Personally I spent a lot of money on discs and pads for the standard set-up and was always dissapointed. Spending hundreds for next to no gain. I then went all the way and OMG - supperb!

Perfect advice here! Altho I didn't bother with the strut brace.

Always start with handling and items that improve body control before adding more power with both acceleration and braking.

I agree, and add a Neuspeed 28mm rear ARB.

well mr Tinkerbell,

Get on ebay.. there are loads of mods that do just as well as named products if cash is an issue. If your newly promoted and rich then take the advice you have already been given by the pros on here.

Happy ownership and get a cupra splitter, they look superb.. take 20 mins if that to put on and costs like 25 quid. bargain.

dv forge or baileys recirculating, look on ebay as i got mine for 35 quid and sold it for 45 when i got rid. loads of bargains around just keep your eyes peeled.

Hmm, dump valves.

I thought 20vT's had issues when fitting atmospheric valves?

Forge 007p recirculating dump valve, discharges the air back into the intake so that it doesn't cause any problems. If you have a Cold Air induction kit then you can her the DV through that, mines is actually quite loud, even to the point of bein a bit chavy lol, old grannies **** there pants when i change gear lol
