I doubt you've had your car in for Recalls, they are updates as the result of a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin).

As for the locking beeps, I see no reason why it wouldn't work - Sounds to me like you've been fobbed off.

The same thing hapened to me. Mine is 2006 as well. They said it was not possible. Later I've got VagCom and tried to change that setting and it works now. You can switch on beeps on lock and on unlock separately. I've done lock and unlock beep. When went to 2 year service I've told receptionist I've done that and he was just looking at me with no comment. I've heard that dealer's software can't do it but VagCom can.

Well, that VagCom (VCDS) can do it, I've proven to myself but I don't know if it's true that their software can't do it.

Thanks for quick answers will i notice any difference with the ecu update? car seems to pull more lower down revs. what was the update for?

My father used to have a 2006 Octavia FSi Sport, and that beeped when locked / unlocked. So I would have said yes it can be done.

If you have maxidot you can do it yourself :)

My new 58 vRS TDI beeps when I lock it. Having a fiddle with maxidot and I can turn it off if I want to but who would?

Dealer can't do it yet you can in Maxidot? I think they're just lazy TBH!

it can be done with the vcds/vagcom kit and is easy to do.

Where in the NW are you Wanderer?

Steve
