Classic car status for furby in the future?

Featured Replies

What do you lot think the chances are of the Fabia Vrs gaining classic car status in years to come...bit like that Mk1 Golf I've just been drooling over?

1st proper hot hatch diesel, not too many of them around.

Just wondering if I should keep mine for 20yrs., and then sell it for what I paid originally

Flamin tight bottom!! :D

Will a left hand drive one be worth more because it's a real Skoda?

This is true with splitties - you get more for a propper one, hence the quest to find the left hooker one I'm putting back together.

Don't understand that Andy  ...nowt unusual there then!

But how can you be looking for the one that you are rebuilding then

Classic Skoda Fabia VRS from the country of origin would be the one to have - ie. a left hooker.

I spent a lot of time looking for left hooker splitty to restore rather than a right hooker as the the lefties sell for a lot more as they are more the genuine article.

So :dunce: Will someone help me here please..thicko on line  is the splitty you've got the left hooker you are/were looking for or not,or are you still looking and making do with a right hooker 'til the left one turns up!

Bo***cks, don't even understand myself now!

I think he found a LHD Splitty after a long search and is currently re-furbishing it

Ahh, think thicko has twigged now :twirl: The quest was successful. Doh! I thought he meant the quest was ongoing

Really do need to start having some earlier nights :P

Well done C.J. :trampolin:

Got there in the end.

Not to good at explaining things last night as grumpy teenager was banging around packing for cadet camp.

:hilarius: About as much chance as the Octy has! At the end of the day they are both Euroboxes - nothing classic or inspirational about them. Don't get me wrong they are both great cars (obviously the Octy being slightly better ;) ) but they ain't classic car material!

Sorry Andy. Dunno wot's up with me 'ed lately. Always seem to be looking for the difficult solution to everything, when the easy answer is RIGHT in front of me!

Think I was reading the word Quest as 'looking for' in present rather than past tense, when in fact it can mean either!

Stunningly dense sometimes

Splitty is starting to look really good now - it may even be running by next weekend

Could have said that about the VW golf back in the mid 70's too. Vibrant market apparently for other original tidy euroboxes too.

Depends what you mean by classic I suppose. Some think of their 1973 Austin Allegro in mint condition as a classic.

Not suggesting the Skodas will be worth silly money in the future, but like anything really, if you look after it,it may have some extra value/interest.

Just in time for the 'sheds on wheels' meet next month hopefully!

Hopefully in time for the Cornwall VW Jamboree on bank holiday weekend.

Camping interior might not be in it but from the outside it will look great.

Talking of v ordinary 'euroboxes' not being worth much, mechanic mate of mine is heavily into Ford classics.

Has the most mint of Zephyr/Zodiac convertibles you've ever seen..totally unbelievably stunning condition. Just been valued for pending divorce reasons :couple: at a staggering

it is possible... afterall Estelle values for a mint one are climbing now... anything 20+ in good nick ends up being worth something.....

that it was the 1st hot hatch diesel.

But it wasn't - the Golf GTI TDI PD was out years ago...

Cobblers. It was never marketed as a 'hot hatch'. Just a quick economical Golf that is starting to look a bit middle age spreadish!

You just cunningly trying to stir up that nest again Rob you contraversial geezer.

Got to give you some credit fellah. You like to create a lively thread!

Can feel a bit of another barnstormer comin' on! :D

'course it was marketed as a hot hatch...hence the GTI badge!

Not trying to be controversial, just pointing out that Skoda weren't the first to do it...and I suspect if it wasn't for VW's persuasion, they wouldn't have bothered... :D

OH no it wasn't, and if it WAS, no one took any notice..well I didn't!

Just looks like an ordinary Golf to me,whereas the Fabia looks subtley quick  That's it's great appeal to me. Looks a bit different without shouting TOO much.

Oh and yes, if it was VW's idea, how come the new polo tdi gti thingy has only just come out then smart pants! :D

First GTI TD 110bhp was released in '96, though admittedly not here. I think that gives it a pretty good lead on the vRS!

Yeah, those round foglights really do make it look like it'll do warp speed 9... :P ;)

Yeah those 'foglights' do help a bit I think actually! Repeat...it's subtle.

Doesn't shout BARRY,unlike some others I could mention.

Same reason the Fabia was based on the newer version of the Polo platform before the Polo was - to test the technology via a brand which they didn't care about... :D
