I killed my N95 today, nay murdered it in fact. It's lying in a thousand bits in a cardboard box from China. Gutted!

I blame alcohol, 5 pints of Fosters to be more specific. That's what I had to drink last night when my brother in law told me that he had a spare case for an N95 that would make it all sexy and black.

Then in the fog of the following day's hangover, He produced the case and I promptly got on with it, can't be too hard after all?

The case in question is Chinese and makes your N95 look like an 8Gb version. It comes with all the screwdrivers and seperators you could ever want, but it's not quite up to the lofty quality standards of Nokia.

An hour later and I realise I'm in deeper than I thought, I'm surrounded by microscopic hex screws, bit's of slidey mechanism, and circuitry. It's the circuitry that bothers me, you have to physically wrench stuck down circuit boards from the inside of the phone, and stick them to the internals of the new case. With my fists of ham and fingers of butter, I managed to bend the circuit boards and destroy the phone's microphone.

So I've ordered a replacement mic from the Net at a princely £1.50 and hope and pray that it can be resurrected. The prognosis is not good however.

So.....That N96....Any good?

other than the glueing that lot goes back together in about 2 mins mate, its easy

had mine aprat 4 or 5 times at least in one day trying to get the water out of mine!

I fitted one of those to my N95. jobs a goodun I thought. Got to work the following morning and found I couldn't hear anybody who phoned me. I took it all apart again to find I had no speaker inside, I had forgot to fit it and left it inside the old cover, and that was without beer:rofl:

Well done good sir, that is truly impressive. Add that to the list of things not to do when drunk, just after #74 dont go on eBay.

On a serious note, if you decide to give up putting it back together again, do have a go claiming on insurance.

And if that fails, I'd put it on ebay clearly stating it's being sold as spare parts and sold as seen. You'd probably get something back for it what would be worthwhile

i used to take my nokias apart to fix blown speakers or mics, but im staying clear of the n95 after seeing that!

im actually on my 3rd one now (thanks insurance!) as im always dropping it in the biggest puddles i can find :(

what about just skicking the bits inside a big old phone case? lots of room and no fiddley bits then!

I found out today i have phone insurance with my bank account! hurrah! I'll see if I can fix it first like,then ♠'ll see if I need to make a claim.

go careful there pinko, i have said phone insurance though my bank and they have a 3 week cooling period where you can't claim!

Aye, they do a 21 day registration period, during which there is no claimin! I'll try a temporary fix to the N95 til the 21 day period runs oot like.
