Help radio wont work

Featured Replies

Hello

I have just bought an Octavia 52 plate with OE radio cassette which was working ok. Replaced it with a Goodmans GCE7301 CD / radio. I checked it was working by changing over cables. It was fine so I fitted it. Alas apart from the flashing diode when the facia is off it is now dead. I tried to refit the original unit - which is also dead. Fuse and connectors are ok.

I'm lost! help!

you must have pulled a wire out somewhere, have you tried both radios on a 12v battery(not the one that.s in the car) here,s how..black wire to earth on batt.red&yellow to+terminal on batt.connect to a speaker, does it work?.can you hear anything through the speaker, try a cd or cassette if it works ok, try it back in the car if it doesn,t you will have to check all wiring in the car..

There are 2 fuses for the radio, one on the switched supply and the other on the permenant supply. Check some of the other cars electronics and you should find more than the radio dead.

What I dont understand is why you are replacing a radio which is better made than a goodmans with what is really a budget radio that has about 2 watts x4 RMS output and is in all proberbility going to sound a lot worse.

they both sound as good as each other currently :-) Silence is golden so they say!
