New Octy Questions!

Featured Replies

Ok I've had my Octv vRS TDI for 5 days now and theres a few things I can't figure out!

I've read the manual but can't seem to figure it out! :o

1, How do I get the 'arriving home' lights to work? Do I need the auto light sensors (which I dont have)?

2, What exactly happens when I click the lock button on my keyfob twice? My wifes car deadlocks it on the 2nd push, am I right thinking this one de-activates the deadlocks on the 2nd press?

3, Does the ECON button just use outside air to set the temp (if poss) and cut out the a/c been used for cooling?

4, I assume C Control isn't meant to operate below 15mph (ish)?

5, Does the CR TDI use oil? (haven't checked yet!)

I have maxidot if that makes any difference to the above!

Thanks!

What model year is the car? I think its something thats configurable if you have a maxidot display. :)

It deactivates the interior sensors so you can leave a dog in the car, the deadlocks remain activated IIRC.

Yes, all the ECON does is basically stop the a/c from cutting in. :)

4, I assume C Control isn't meant to operate below 15mph (ish)?

Correct.

5, Does the CR TDI use oil? (haven't checked yet!)

Yes, it should, especially for the first 20k or so. Don't baby it around too much and fuel consumption will be ok. :)

I think you can use the maxidot to configure various things, best get the manual out!! :)

Thanks!

No problem :)

Regarding the convenience lights, I've twiddled in maxidot and anything 'light based' is on.

Do I need to leave my headlights on via the turn switch at night to activate them? I've tried that and they dont go out after I lock it?

Oh and mine is new as of Friday! So 2008!

You need to leave them on from the light switch. They will go out after the pre-set time (in maxi dot) after you have taken the key out from the ignition lock.

If you don't have auto headlights then coming home lights is by VAG-COM.

Ah there we go!

Thats why. Have to get VAG-COM out!

Cheers!

Yeah what Stu said.

Even if you have Maxi-Dot you'll need to have Light Assist to get the leaving/coming home light function to operate.

Actually, you only need the auto dimming rear view mirror with rain sensor and some VAG-Com magic :) I have the auto dimming mirror, but no Light Assist (only a standard light switch), and both Coming home and leaving home functions work perfectly.

You don't need the sensor at all, VCDS can take care of it.

VCDS is VAG-COM I take it?

I used vagcom on my corrado quite a bit, shoul dthis be a problem to sort out?

That's true, but for Leaving home function you need it if you don't want the headlights to turn on unless it's dark. Usually it would not be a problem afterall, because you start the car anyway and the headlights turn on. Only saves the ballasts and bulbs a bit when you have to pick up something from the car during the day.

you can add leaving/coming home lights via vcds as i have enabled mine with it as i never had dimming or rain sensors on my car.

Double pressing of the lock button will disable interior sensing, and the deadlocks (safety incase someone in the car). Button in drivers A pillar will go red, and LED on door should stay on.

Only one push is needed ;)

Another little question!

Now we're in cold weather, is there any use in pressing the Econ button?

I assume the a/c is only used when its warm outside?

A/C works only when outside temperature is 4 degrees celsius or more.

I have mine on all the time, never used ECON :)

The A/C helps de-mist the windows quicker
