DSG computer busted after 60k km

Featured Replies

went to the dealer today after having about 2 months a lot of creeks and jumps from the DSG in 1st and 2nd at low speed in relaxed driving... the dealer said that the DSG computer is busted and this also busted the flywheel...

its a 2008 octavia II 1.9tdi with 60,000 kM

anyone had the same problem ?

Not aware of anybody, at least its all covered under warranty.

Not heard of that before but luckily you will have all put right under warranty

Mate of mine had an Audi A3 2.0TDi DSG (2005) and his computer failed (didn't have any flywheel problems though). It was, apparently, a massive job on warranty. He had circa 30,000miles on it at the time and was partial to the odd heavy right foot.

I could only go on what he said, but the jist was that the computer sits inside the DSG box, so the whole thing had to be cracked open to change the computer. Audi figured (might have been because he was thinking about his next car) that a new DSG box was easier!

All the best getting it sorted.

Ed to say it was an A3

Certainly there have been quite a few DSG electronics failures on Audi's. There is a considerable amount of electronics within the gearbox itself - these are extremely complex pieces of machinery and repairs work is complex and very costly. Personally I would not want to own a DSG-equipped car out of warranty.

Couldn't agree more!As posted elsewhere on this forum, average life expectency not much more than 60k (miles) from the local cab drivers I speak to, tis a well known fault & normally replaced under warranty as 60k is well under 2 years for us in the job. I test drove 1, loved the drive but found out the repair bill is approx £4k so refused to take the chance & stuck with a manual.
