Domain name registration

Featured Replies

Last month my boss gave me a task of re-registering our company domain which is not being used at the moment.

I did it A-net iirc now nominet are contacting us to re-new it again.

Are they just trying there luck ????

Have we been had by Anet ???

Somebody help me please :confused::confused:

AIUI, Nominet are the official UK domain name repository which would make A-net a middleman. It's probably just that the renewal details haven't got from A to B yet. Then again, I registered a .eu address direct with whoever it is administers the .eu domain for my previous employers and that took years to come through...

Ah I see now

Thanks buddy

That clears that one up ....Many thanks

if you are unsure do a whois of the domain you registered and check all the details including the expiry date.

I tend to get renewal notices through from Nominet from time to time too. £80 IIRC! :rolleyes:

But always just go back to my usual supplier before it fully expires and gets de-tagged, and pay £10 for 2yrs on a .co.uk or £10/yr on a .net/.com.

Are you sure it is nominet and not just a company chancing it.

It was a fairly common scam to try and get you to renew your domain with them at a much higher per year cost. They company wasn't nominet but some random company making out it was nominet.

In my case, I get pukka Nominet correspondence on their letterhead. I confirmed it with them the first time.
