There's a place in my area which is offering the 'original tuning box' for

Just get it re-mapped for a bit more cash or if you want go on e-bay and get a tuning box for 21 quid do the same job as the one you are looking at :D

I got a tuning box for

Really puzzles me as to why they aren't as popular.

Because they don't give as much improvement as a remap , nor is it as good to drive as a remapped car would be.

Anyone wanna buy a 2nd hand tuning box then? :D

Hi Matt, can you give me more details on the box that you're running?

Was told the BIG advantage of 'trick box' is that it doesn't show up on the ECU..good for warranty purpose  Assuming you remembered to take it off before it goes into the garage.

Ooops.

That's why I like the look of the one click. Just upload the original stuff to the ECU before dropping the car off for a service etc.

Mind you knowing that my dealer looks on here they'll know if I ever do anything to it anyway. :D

The disadvantage of the trick box is that it fiddles with the values the sensors output (or bypasses them completely ;)) so the ECU is being fed dummy info. I know one of the guys on here (name removed to protect the guilty ;)) was/is running one of these and it works by bypassing the fuel sensor and his CEL light came on because the ECU was getting confused so you might want to invest in a copy of VAG-COM too to make sure it's not doing anything serious ;)

A remap actually changes the way the ECU interprets the information from the sensors so should be a better solution that can be better tailored to the driving style. As for costing more - isn't the Jabba remap under 400 quid, so on a par with the Bromley?
