Drive by Wire

Featured Replies

I've taken a look under the black plastic cover that hides all the clever bits of the engine, and thanks to the excellent description in the FAQ

here

I can see that my engine has VVT. Does this mean that it's also drive-by-wire?

Just wondering....

If its a facelift car , then id say it is. Im sure the drive by wire throttle and CANBUS wiring were both fitted to the facelift Octavia , and not the pre facelift. (tho i stand to be corrected by those with more knowledge than I!)

Jabbasport's site here indicates that fly-by-wire was introduced in 2000 for the Octavia 4X4, and fly-by-wire plus VVT for the 4X4 and RS in the same year.
