quick petrol question?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone just a quick question is super unleaded the same as optimax or ultimate as i want to run my oct vrs on the best stuff but the only down side is the nearest bp or shell is over 25 miles away from where i live.

i had a quick search but couldnt find an answer.

cheers:thumbup:

The Tesco super unleaded is supposed to be 99ron same as v-power, i think the Esso one is 98ron. If i had the choice it would be v-power every time.

Tesco's super unleaded in local station to me is only 97ron, but yeah v-power everytime.

Though some reports calm that tescos 99 is the best stuff.

I ran V-Power on the 2.0T Astra Coupe, didn't really notice all that much difference with a standard map.

Really came alive though if you gave it some real hammer for 5-10mins continous, seamt to pick up and take off.

A good test here - I find very little difference. Maybe a little more low end power with Tesco 99. With 25miles difference it would be tesco 99 all the time. Check this link and a passage i've pasted from it.

Thorney Motorsport Fuel Test Results Update

The red line represents the car run on Shell V Power, the blue line Tesco 99 and the green line BP 102. The difference between Tesco 99 and BP 102 is marginal, the Tesco seemed to perform better at lower rpm with higher power and torque with BP 102 giving slightly higher peak power at high rpm. Surprisingly the Shell V Power under performed throughout the rev range when in direct comparison with the other two fuels.
