Replacement horn

Featured Replies

I have done a search and whilst useful, I haven't really got an answer to my question.

Is there an alternative horn for the Fabia II which sounds less feeble?

Ideally one which just bolts on in place of the original.

I saw a genuine part Audi (for A4, A6 TT ) horn on ebay for sale a while back and was tempted as it looked very similar to the original.

Would it fit and would I have to modify the wiring to connect it up?

Thanks in advance.

Just go for it and get a Nautilus Compact air horn! You won't regret it... sooo much louder than a normal horn...

It was about 3 times bigger than the standard horn but is an all in one unit.

Requires wiring in with the supplied relay though.

Should have said, I am not really looking to fit airhorns, just considering a normal horn from another vehicle.

Wondered if anyone else had gone down this route rather than purchasing a Nautilus or Bosch Airmaster.

im interested in finding a new horn too for my leon. its even worse than the fabia! its embarassing to say the least. i want one that sounds like road runner. beep beep....

The compact air horn is an all in one unit, so it's just as easy to fit as a standard horn.

The Nautilus Compact will have to be on my "to do list". I think they're only £23 in Halfords and motorworld. Add on postage with buying on the net/ebay and you probably won't save much if anything.

Did you read the thread? The Nautilus is little bigger than the OEM. The thread even contains photographic instructions on how to wire it in, it's a great replacement. No one has really bothered with an OEM style replacement because these are far better.

BTW Motorworld have gone bust so forget them. If Halfords still do them get one quick because they seem to run out then can't get any for months.

IIRC the company was taken out of administration a few days after and are still trading, although a lot of the less profitable shops were shut down.

I never reckoned much to motorworld to be honest. Quite easy to see why they went bust,

I never had a problem with them, but then again a mateine worked for them so I got a discount.

Back to the horn problem, If you want to keep it OEM, why not just buy and fit the twin horn from a Fabia. it should just bolt straight on

Thanks to everyone for your feedback.

Contacted a dealer who confirms that a horn from a Fabia Vrs will fit and it has the same connector so I've decided to go down this path.

Will be about £35-40 but a small price to pay for being noticed, safety wise.

Part will be ordered tomorrow and I should hopefully fit it on Friday.

is the VRS horn any different? ie not as girly and embarassing as the new one?

From what I can remember from my VRS is was perfectly acceptable and definately not as embarrassing as this one.

That's twice the price of a compact air horn, but if it is the route you want to go.

FWIW some fabia have dual tone horns and others single tone. The single tone ones sound weak IMHO

Fabia vrs is dual tone.

Dual tone horn from Skoda for Fabia VRS is less than £29.

is dual tone better?? and is it a straight swap? ie no re-wireing

The dual tone is in no way as feeble as the single tone horn.

The parts guy at the dealer in Harrogate says it is a straight swop over and the connection to it is via the plug on the Fabia 2 - i.e no changing of the wiring required.

Hopefully it should be a five minute job or there abouts, after removing the front nearside foglamp cover.

kool, let me know how you get on, might have to invest in one!

Will do.

Hopefully getting it and fitting it on Friday afternoon this week.

VRS horn fitted in a matter of a few minutes, yesterday afternoon.

No wiring mods needed and so much louder.

Zebra. any chance of some pics?

Zebra; Not really bothered about the horn but perhaps you could post some pictures of what appear to be very attractive young ladies.

PS And the new horn if you must.
