carpet cleaning on RS

Featured Replies

have never cleaned my carpets and the grey is, well, not so grey anymore.

any tips? i've heard some talk about 1001(?) cleaner, is that right? waht are the results like?

btw, it will always be an RS to me! my avatar is one of the skoda publicity shots and it quite clearly says on the reg. plate ( well, not that you can see it on my avatar) 'Octavia RS'.

vRS? what's that?!!

Introducing SIMONIZ TEFLON CLEANER, cleans, freshens, enhances colours and safe on most fabrics/carpets and when ya done apply SIMONIZ UPHOLSTERY PROTECTOR, prevents soiling and stain/water resistant and when it`s dry stick some of wickes clear poly on top (idea nicked fom stopanjI). Well thats what it said on the box............worked great for me.

cheers des, thanks a lot!

will try it one sunday when the weather is nice, i can be bothered and i have enough time to give the whole car a good once over.

so that's july 2003 pencilled in.........

The best idea I have ever seen was done by John Stopani. He's covered the whole area and fitted it snug with opaque builders sheet.

This will ensure no dirt can even get at the carpets and you still get to see them.

I have myself nicked this idea and have just got some sheet from Wickes to fit this weekend.

Mind you, this is ultimate tart territory. My missus just looked at me and shrugged her head when I told her what I'd be doing this Saturday. I think the words sad and ****** were muttered under her breath!!

To give even more protection to your car interior, buy heavy duty garden waste bags from Homebase, slit them half way up the sides, and use them as front seat covers. Front seat passengers will need to hang on to the driver on sharp corners, but that's a small price to pay for having upholstery in as new condition when you come to sell the car.

If you cover the rears seat in similar fashion, you can carry 2 labradors inside the car rather than in the boot.

Garden waste bags !!! , Denis , why don't you just buy some seat covers , I think they might look a little better  Denis , you have come up with numerous wonderful ideas on Briskoda , but forgive me for saying I don't think this is one of your better ones , but no offence intended :):)

got to be honest, i thought denis was joking. if wanting to cover the seats i too would think seat covers would make sense, although thats not my cup of tea.

please say you were denis.................. no offence intended.

taking this one step further as i have been known to do on the odd occasion, i would suggest slicing the labradors along the navel line and spread eagleing then across the back seats giving that feeling of luxurious *yappa leather* if they get to noisy. Not forgeting the heavy duty garden wast bags underneath which come into play when the smell gets to great

ps....don`t forget to do up the yellow draw string so as the dustmen don`t know whats inside.

PLEASE NOTE:- No dogs were harmed in making this post.............a dog is not just for christmas, nuf said!

oh and thing with me and the chickens has never been substantiated

oh boy am i in trouble

lmao!!!!

I can't believe he's said that    :!: :!: :!: But we'd all like to know about you and the chickens

See people think that i can`t be serious for 5 minutes or that i cannot give out good advice. I hope my last post has helped to change opinion

In the Delcac tradition of not being serious, here are my suggestions for carpet cleaning.

Firstly do not and I repeat do not allow any labrador no matter how nice, to drive your RS under any circumstance. Excuses about paws touching the pedals not valid!

Secondly to avoid any dirt at all getting to the carpet, make sure your feet NEVER touch the floor at any time, only the pedals.

Thirdly have your friendly carpet shop fit the very best bit of shagpile offcut they have, OVER your current carpet.

Fourthly cover the new carpet in heat activated shrinkwrap, thus ensuring no dirt.

Fifth, have an airlock fitted to the car so that no air can get in or out (disadvantage is that the extra metalwork on the outside may look messy and spoil the clean lines)

Sixth, take the car to Sketchley's once a week and have it dry cleaned. Do not however under and circumstances try to save money by putting your RS in the washing machine at the local laundrette, as this is not big and nor is it clever!

Seventh and most drastic of all but will ensure catagorically that you'll never ever ever ever get a smidgen of dirt and guarantee zero cleaning needed. This is to never ever drive your RS ever no matter what. Never get in it, only park it in the garage and look at it by pulling it out of the garage on a large carpet covered trolley using white cloth gloves. In other words do what most people who drive a classic car do AT Classic car shows: NEVER DRIVE IT!!

Having just read all the posts above, I bet Huck_B wishes he hadn't asked his question. It seems to me that a bunch of Fabling Members have been having a field day with this topic.

PS - If members of this forum are not going to give considered and useful replies to those asking for help and advice, then I will have to give serious thought to resigning from this forum. There are many forums out there that need intelligent members, such as Toy Talk ...

http://www.hwy56.com/dinkytoy/

... where members are in need of help on such matters as...

'Dear Helpers, We have a dinky supertoy foden flattruck no.502,a coles mobile crane no.571,a 1907 rolls royce silver ghost no15 and an astra model one search light that we found in a box.they have their own boxes and packageing.how do we find out about them?

Could this be our first resigning member.

ps. I have a few Corgi cars from my childhood i would like valued if anyone is interested..............ahh happy days.

In your dreams!

Found some old Action Man stuff recently in mum and dad's loft and flogged it all for 50 squid. RESULT!!

Got stacks of Matchbox stuff and Corgi.............How did we get onto this from carpets??????????

We digressed. And is there anything more boring than cleaning carpets? Bring out the toys, boys! (Yes, girls, I do mean toys, boys - not toy boys).

I see from the nodding icon that this is a popular post. Are we sad or what?

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Denis

Or vot!

Is the nodding icon a valuable verk of art like The Fallen Madonna vis the big boobis, if zo i vud be interested.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Right well no dirty bits on my drivers side for my carpets from now on.

I have successfully completed the "Stopani Anti-Dirt Carpet Tart Conversion"

This for those of you who are not familiar is - One large piece of see through plastic (builders sheet from Wickes) cut tastefully to size then pushed to fit into foot well and over all drivers side carpet.

End result - No dirty carpets and U can still see em, but well protected. Plus U can still give it a handy wipe if dirty.

Taking this thread to ridiculous proportions (this bit should only be read by professional car tarts!!) I have used the same plastic, wrapped it around and shaped it accordingly on the drivers side RS logoed mat (of course!) and put extra plastic filling, thus to avoid your heel wearing out the centre bit. I then cut out holes for the fixings on the floor and on the bits on the mat.

Bingo, still see the mat (just) no dirt, no wear.

I plan to remove this sometime in the spring. Until then, no cleaning, no wear and less work.

Warning only total car tarts or people with too much time on their hands or total RS Obsessionists should attempt this.

Mr Stopani U have much to answer for!!!!!!

PS. You'll see the end result at the Northern meet!!

For an added touch of luxury, and to make you the envy of your friends and your car the talking point at the Northern meet, don't forget to buy it a bra to protect its front end from the weather and sheep. There's plenty to choose from in the VW Golf range of bras on American VW car accessories sites. (The ones with the little eyebrows over the headlights look particularly fetching). The missus/mistress/girlfriend or whatever should be able to take a few tucks in it (ie the bra) for you so it fits your RS - or vRS, which sounds less ambiguous, and should stop delcec getting excited. (I hear he's currently busy tweaking his avatar).

Delcac fixation alert......................bing bong, bing bong

Only for sad people who have no life of their own
