...and another Octy TDi. :)

Featured Replies

Hello fellow Skodisti.

I recently came to accept that I just don't fit into a Hyundai Coupe so looked for something more suitable. I spent ages trawling through all sorts of sites not knowing quite what I was looking for. I've had several TDi motors and was always impressed, particularly once manufacturers knew how to make them. The most practical for me was a 406 estate, closely followed by a Picasso HDi which suited my employer better as it was more like a van than a car (?? I'm still baffled by the logic??)

I saw an Octavia SLX at a bargain price within easy reach and gave it a once over. . . decided it was excellent and on the drive home from buying it a few days later, the Octy clicked on to 100,000 miles (well you know it didn't audibly click) and I had the feeling from the way everything worked and the way it drove, you could cross the 1 off the beginning and a person with poor eyesight wouldn't know it wasn't new (I suppose I'd have to tell them it didn't have a one on the beginning etc).

What a brilliant car this Octavia is!

I got to work this morning and was telling a couple of workmates how I was well impressed by the car and how I'd been driving down the bypass urging it on " come on 98, 99 ..yes 100...miles per gallon!" Fantastic new hobby. :)

Excellent site. Thanks for your help in advance which I will probably find with the search button.

I promise not to ramble on in this way all the time.

Just this pleased.

When I told you about me checking it out I should have said "I was so excited I left a deposit".....

Thanks for the welcome folks.

I certainly do like it gillywibble. My involvement with Skoda dates back to an Estelle in 1986 which I picked up for £150 as a stop gap after breaking the transaxle of an Alfa Romeo. Having fixed the cylinder liner seals and ported the head I found it to be a very interesting car (like most weren't at the time - not much change then). My next car was a Rapid which could show the Golf Gti a clean set of worn rally remoulds after a bit of alchemy. After that I got into turbo diesels .... now full circle. I have much respect for the Skoda brand.

These more recent cars put many manufacturers to shame. Brilliant. At this moment there isn't a car I would rather have.:)
