Need Help with new radio

Featured Replies

I put a kenwood radio in my car yesterday (Y reg 1.4 Fabia) and the radio loses the preset stations when i turn the ignition off, this happened with my old stereo aswell so i'm thinking that there's something not plugged in properly, can anybody help me?

Thanks

Nick

There is a yellow wire that needs swapping over with a different wire.

Some one will be along soon with more info than me!

Or do a search as its a common problem!

Yeah, a SEARCH would definitely answer your question, but you need to swap over the yellow and red wires. Don't clip the green one, or the detonator will definitely go off.

I fitted a wiring harness from halfords along with an aerial booster, it is a very tight squeeze but it does go in with a bit of fiddling:thumbup:

It is this one i got PC2-69-4

Aerial booster is a good idea/mandatory, but I wouldn't bother with the halfrauds wiring harness, as all it accomplishes is swapping over the red and yellow wires, and ends up adding a bunch of bulk you really don't need/want. My Pioneer came with bullet connectors for the yellow and red wires allowing an easy swap over. Not sure about the Kenwood, but that's all you'll need to do (and hook the loose blue wire up to the aerial booster). Job done.

Agreed. Even if there isn't the bullet connector, you can usually extract the pins from the connector. I managed OK without the antenna booster, but FM reception suffers a bit.

Yup, without the booster FM suffers and you will only get strong stations. AM (MW/LW) also suffers, in that without the booster you will get nothing at all.

Had same problem with a Sony and did exactly this as per Sony instructions which solved the problem :)
