Nice courtesy car

Featured Replies

Just had my vRS in the dealer in Letchworth for some warranty work. I was expecting a diesel Furby, but was delighted when they gave me this....Progress Skoda in Letchworth were really very good. In 20 years of motoring the best and most courteous service that I can remember.

Sorry for the rubbish pics but I was in a rush.

Interestingly it was a diesel, with full leather, and the MFD3. It had a few other options which I didn't have such as autolights.

I have to say I liked the diesel motor (mainly the MPG but the torque was good). However it sounded like a tractor and there's no way I could live with it. I think it's delivery of power was pretty "rough". Getting back into my petrol vRS was bliss.

I did instantly miss the MFD 3, but it was one of those things that I don't ultimately think was worth the list price. I like TomTom but can see the appeal of the MFD 3 (I didn't have time to load any MP3's onto SD and I suspect that would have sold me on it).

The car did have 1 or 2 surprising side effects. I'm pretty sure I saw several people eyeing it up. Not sure if they were admiring it or thought it looked like a police car. Or maybe they were laughing?

The reason for this last point was the totally unexpected reaction from my wife and nearly 9 year old son. It went something like "get that pimp mobile off the drive. When are you getting your car back!!"

I was amazed, and they put it down to colour, not the wheels.

Odd eh?

Now I'm not 100% sure if the repair was successful, so I may have to go back again at some point. There could be a part B to this review.

those wheels are a bit nasty, nice car otherwise

Its a Police car before stickers

Driving style in a diesel is very different to petrol, and it would take more that a couple of days to adapt, specially if youve only ever driven petrol.

Saw that car in the showroom there a couple of weeks ago, did look very nice

Never liked those wheels on the Octy but I have thought a white estate would make others move aside pretty quickly :D

Just like black though; pain to keep looking good I guess. :(

Isn't that the managers at Progress Bedford's car? I did look at buying it, but they wanted £18k!

Does look great in white! :-)

Now I know where to get my warranty work done!! :D

Must have been a PD then, cause my CR TDI VRS don't sound like that and its totally smooth

I must now be DEAF thanks Doc

alas, no idea if it was PD or CR - I meant to pop the bonnet for a look but the day was totally manic and I didn't get to it. I've driven lots of diesels - don't think I really need "time to adapt" - I just prefer the smoothness of the petrol in comparison.

If the CR is really smooth that could be bearable. Either that or just play your MUSIC LOUD. :P:P

It's one of the Sales guys cars - don't think he was the manager. Without being unkind, he seemed totally hopeless as a saleman. Then again he was busy with someone else....

I do prefer my black too....

oh, the service guy giving me the keys said it was a 2L diesel. Does that make it a CR, or was he talking rubbish? i.e. are they all 1.9...

They are all 2 litre whether it's PD, CR or petrol.(Octy Mk2 VRS)

Double post

That looks awsome! I wonder if they'd consider a straight swap for my 56 plate....

Like the wheels. Any one know which they are?

Nice to see some decent courtesies

I'm not a fan of those wheels, do prefer the std ones. They're in the Accessories catalogue, called B14 (good name!)

The full leather thing is interesting!

Bought my VRS from Progress in Letchworth, and I'm pretty sure that the white one is the salesmans car.

Progress gave me very good customer service by the way.

Cheers

I like white cars, we've got a white DSG vRS Estate in the showroom and I actually prefer it to Silver by far and I think I prefer it to the Race Blue.

They have a nice white one in the Bedford showroom on std 18's. That leather is nice...thats what I have in mine:D

Ivan (the Service chappie) has a white PD saloon as his company car, that is probably his.

They are the nicest dealer I have ever experienced. Both sales and service.

The owner, Terrence Byrne, is very friendly too.

Random fact: they are supposed to be organising a factory visit for spring/summer next year).

I take it all back actually, I only ever had a Roomster or Fabia courtesy car :P

thats my dads car!! he works there!! i love that car!!

Nice - I had a Race Blue one when I took my Octavia in for a cambelt :)

Shame that the dealer b0rked the belt change up...
