Headlight stickers for travelling abroad

Featured Replies

Do they come off your headlights OK when you've finished your hols? I'm spending just under a fortnight (Xmas/New Year) abroad and needs to fit headlight stickers to alter the beam pattern, most of the driving done during the dark.

I'm thinking that if they don't come off that easily it might be worth while me buying headlamp protectors and fitting the stickers to them and just removing them when back on UK soil.

What are your experienses of removing the stickers without leaving a sticky film behind?

I recently used some for just over a week going to germany... most driving done at night.

They came off just fine... just pulled straight off but did require some rubbing with a cloth to get a tiny bit of sticky stuff left behind.

I think I got mine from Halfrauds btw.

should be able to get them on the ferry too!!

I really hate those beams adapters, they really annoy me.

I have never used them as I see so many part exchanges with the horrible marks all over the lights and it looks a total mess.

They were fine for the glass headlights as you could just remove any marks with solvent.

The modern plastic lights it's not so good. I really can't understand why you can't just press a button or turn a key and make them flatline for europe or europe for here and have a warning light on.

The new Superb with AFS does do that.

So maybe just best to check if you have plastic or glass lenses!

Mine has glass so had no problems with any sticky stuff!

I have the plastic lens, I just don't want to start scrubbing at the lens to get the sticky stuff of.

Where abouts are you going for your hols?

I drove for years (Fabia)on the continent, never changed the light on the car. Use the trim wheel to adjust the light when loaded in the back; you will be ok.

Spending xmas and new year at my parents house in France

We've never bothered either, but i have a feeling that it's a legal requirement (like a set of spare bulbs, a warning triangle and a hi-viz jacket!).

Driving in France is ace - enjoy!

When I went to France in September last year and Hungary this year, I bought Eurolites on Ebay from Dennings DIY for £3.99 plus £0.99 postage, which is much cheaper than in the shops. I couldn't understand where to place them on the headlights, so I lined them up in the dark against the garage doors before I set off for the optimum position and they were fine.

There is a tourist lever on the Superb's headlights, but the lights have to be removed to reach them. Our dealer is 40 miles away and it's not worth taking time off work before and after a foreign trip plus their charges when I find Eurolites are perfectly adequate.

The Superb has xenons, so you can't adjust them manually like VRSFAN.

I polished the plastic lenses before I used them and then I removed all the sticky with polish as soon as I returned and there's no marks left. The xenons are cooler than halogens, which helps to avoid the glue setting too hard.

can't believe you didn't ask me..... kept mine on the Audi for yonks, came off ok just used some thinners on a cloth to gently get the remaining sticky stuff off.
