felicia wont start after head gasket change

Featured Replies

hi anyone have any ideas? Its the 1.3 inj model, it seems as though its a fuel problem, if i put a little bit of fuel in the line it starts up, but once this has run out it cuts out, its seems as though its not drawing fuel through although i can hear the fuel pump working. On the fuel line before the filter theres a black plug? with an electrical connector what is this and whats it for, might this be the problem?

Where is the fuel filter you are talking about?

top right hand side of the engine bay

That's the carbon fume filter thingy whatever the correct name is. I think the thing you refer to is the purge valve and will have nothing to do with the problem starting.

ok, i also removed the thermostat from he housing as it was broken, would this have anything to do with the starting problem?

Yeah thought as much. As mentioned above thats not a fuel filter, thats the N80 valve.

You have you fuel pipes and vent pipes mixed up.

ok then just found the real fuel line pmsl!!!! plenty of fuel coming through any ideas? The car turns over starts for 2 seconds then cuts out? help!!!

That sounds like an immobilizer issue, you using the same key, do you have another you can try?

no, only one key!!! i broke it the other day but put it back together. didnt know there was one on there.

Would having the feed and return pipes incorrectly fitted give these sort of symptoms I wonder?

Open it back up again and check the transponder hasnt fallen out. There should be a little glass like grub for want of a better word in the corner, if there is a retangular hole you have lost it.

OMG thankyou, just scoured garage found the transponder thingy put it back in and voila car started perfect!!!!!

Thank you very much guys :D:D:D

Thanks for the update, glad to know it wasn't too difficult to sort

Way hey, fixed in 14 posts, get in.

Now that's what I call a story with happy ending :)

And one that teaches us all not to be too tidy in the garage - imagine if you've sprinkled sawdust on the floor, swept it and hosed it down... your immobilizer would've been gone forever.
