N75 valve - H or J after re-map..?!

Featured Replies

Hey guys (& gals!),

Only my second post so hope you won't see me as an outsider! I have a MK I Octavia VRS and on an 05 plate, just recently had it remapped and my god, does it feel like a different car. It was quick before as you all know but feels awesome now.

I have been advised to change the N75 valve as this will stop some of the surgeness and even out the boost across the rev range which I am experiencing a little bit. Seen loads of posts on here about the N75 valve but I'm so confused, does anyone have any personal experience of changing this after a remap and if so which one did you go for: H or J? Did it work, any adverse effects...? I have heard alot about "limp mode" not sure what it is but I don't want it! Quite an easy mod I think for alot more power, but does it have to be fitted in reverse (on H and/or J?)! Any info/comments would be much appreciated.

I have seen quite a drop in my mpg since the remap (done by v-tune) but may be because I keep flooring it in 2nd gear :D but have you other remappers experienced this?

One last thing, saw a pic of a MK I Octy VRS the other day with a six speed box, am I the only one without one....???!! Parkers states it's a six speed also, hope I haven't bought a duff, certainly doesn't feel like one though!

Thanks in anticipation - Alex

use the search at top right mate. there has been a few posts on this

your best bet is to keep it standard. have seen no end of probs with the uprated n75 on remapped cars!! if its surging theres a good chance thers either a fault with the car or the mapping isnt great!!!

Was it definitely a 6 speed box or just the gearknob? vRS has a 5 speed as standard.

Some cars like the N75J and some dont,

I have one on my modified Octy vRS and have no problem with it at all, as it lets me hold boost longer than the standard one.

Very easy mod to do, and if you use the search button, there are pictures of an N75J fitted the correct way.

If you do want one then the part number is:- 034-906-283J

Your fuel consumption will always reflect in how you drive it, drive it normally and you will get more to the gallon than when it was standard, floor it ll the time and you get less.

Oh, and all Mk1 Octy vRS's had a five speed box.

If it was a pic on this site it is probably mine, I have a fabia vRS 6 speed knob on mine to keep the OEM look.....

It isn't for show, mine does have a 6 speeder in it.

Mk2 vRS's had a 6 speed as standard.

As for the N75 stick with the standard 'F' model. A good remap should generally improve fuel economy too, not make it worse....but then it depends on how heavy your right foot is, lead boots:rofl:
