Octavia II Stream HU fault

Featured Replies

Parked up yesterday and it was working fine , but when I switched on the car this morning it popped up with a "CD Error" message and wouldn't eject the disk.

After turning it off and on again it now says "No CD".

Even more annoyingly it also has no sound on the radio so I've had no music today.

I'll fish it out and see if I can open it up and remove the CD by hand , but has anyone seen this before and fixed it?

If I do need to get a replacement are they coded to the car or will another Stream drop in with no VAG-COM twiddling?

it may just be a software problem, seen it before. The HU may miraculaously start working again after its been off for a few hours.

Friend of mine suffered from exactly the same problem and in his case the only fix for it was to change the entire HU.

His car is MY2005 and a normal Stream HU w/o MP3.

Just fixed it.

Removed it from the dashboard and disconnected it from the wiring loom , but then realised that I didn't have a T8 torx bit to take the lid off.

In the absence of the correct tool I applied some percussive maintenance and reconnected it and the cd popped out.

Dropped it back in and it all works fine again.

Phew!

Mine did this once about 6 months ago, but as Mannyo said it started working all by itself after a while and hasn't done it since!

In other words you hit it a few times.

This method worked wonders with my headunit.

The problem i had is that it wouldn't eject the cd and told me that there was "no cd", but yet it would still play the cd that was in!

I'd get ready to have to do the same again in the future, i got fed up and put a aftermarked one in.

If you do go for a aftermarket, i would suggest a double din to single din adaptor from a company other than Celcus.

Rather poor fit imo, and quite flimsy so to speak.

The Aerial power adaptor is no better from them.
