hi all, some one has kindly decided to key there name in to the bonnet on my felly, i think i am going to need the bonnet re-spraying does any body know how much this will cost or if it will be cheaper to get one from the scrap yard? thanks tom:mad:

Shouldnt be oo hard to find the perp if he carved his name on it.

Kick the nonce in, take his money and get the whole car resprayed.

From the sounds of things a touch up kit prob won't do the job.

It might be cheaper either :-

1 - as you said getting a bonnet off a scrappy

2 - if you sanded it, primed and sprayed the bonnet yourself.

3 - use a few touch up pens? Depending on how deep its got.

i chased couple of people about a week ago trying to pull the mirror off it, but there was only so far i would chase them in my boxers i know some one who thinks they know who they were that tried to do my mirror so once i find out there name... anway touch up pens are out the question i think as i like perfection :p its about the size of two of your hands together length ways, can make out a k and a "a" then a load of scratches..... not quite down to the metal but

I would try a tin of spray after flattening area and see how you get on. I have sprayed wheelarches (they need doing again mind) in the past and the paint from the dealer is a bang on match

I would give a good clean down of the area first, finishing with meths/cellulose thinners to remove any wax residues etc before trying to use ultra fine wet and dry to flat it and spray.

I don't have any experience, but I suspect it may also be best to start with maybe filler primer first to help fill in the gouges, then a bit of normal primer, finishing with paint. Each layer with a little very very fine wet and dry once dried.

Probably looking at around £150 for a rub down and respray. Not sure what bonnet go for these days though. Might be able to get one cheap and spray it yourself?

I have sprayed my wheel arches before too, but they need doing again as the paints bubbled.

Once I get a job I might be able to get it all sprayed.

And a big to the vandals.

I feel your pain mate... only too well... in my case the car was a write off though...
