Had a good run today, MPG was impressive

Featured Replies

I've just got back in from a long drive today which involved (aprox) 95% of motorway driving totaling 367 miles exactly.

I filled the car up to the brim this morning with Shell extra fuel and 2 shots of Millers Diesel Sport 4 and set off, sticking to speed limits most of the way, and the occasional blast where safe to do so, with the lights on main beam, aircon on, wipers going most of the way there (not on, on the way back), my mobile on charge and my sat nav plugged in, and here is what i got.

I should add that i have an Economy remap from Mike at Rapid Remap

367.0 miles round trip

360 miles left in the tank if driven like the previous 367 miles

58.6 mpg overall

Return leg acheived 60.7 mpg

I have to say, i knew that my car went well on the combination of the Shell fuel, Millers additives and the Remap, but i wasn't expecting those sort of results.

Money well spent knowing i have the extra power when i want it, but the economy when it counts

thats amazing i would never get that in mine :(

Oh how I would love a diesel... (even the last few spiders and cobwebs have been removed from my wallet).

is that using the expansion tank?

got the same on the weekend, 61.0 mpg with cruise control over 250 miles, sticking to 70 mph.

Fuel was filled to the very brim using the 'venting method'

Mine was reading 61.2 as i left the motorway 1 mile from home, but slow traffic brought it down, but it's still fairly good.

No Cruise control either (yet).

i did 78mpg on the computer to and from the lakes in the summer - 55mpg at the pump tho!!! I have done 70+ to and from work through suburbia.

Thats excellent economy, I get pretty much the same when Im on a motorway drive :D

Best we ever had was about that as well.

Went on a long trip up to Inverness for a holiday couple of weeks back. That's about 497 miles and made it with 80 miles left in the tank, reader was saying 49mpg... which wasn't bad going as I made those 497 miles in just over 7 hours!

it can be done just need to know how to read the road and not be heavy on the gas.

That's nothing! Last week I went down to Wetherby after work to meet up with SWMBO, my brother and his girlfriend. Stuck pretty much to 60 all the way down the A1 and managed to get the trip computer to read 79.1 mpg. Should have taken a picture of it to post.

This remap uve had done is the map switchable from say ECO to Race ???

If so might be paying this guy a visit !

Thats good going John, but i wasn't sat at 60 all the way, my speed varied but was mostly faster and i had the occasional blast.

I expect that if i drove it for economy i would have acheived the same, but i was actually driving normally and not in any rush to get there, so i think it was pretty good.

Mike does two options.

You can have the straight forward remap which like every other company, will replace your standard map and thats what you have....

or, you can buy a remap pro box which gives you the option to have 3 maps that you can switch between when ever you want (standard map, economy map and race map) and i think he is very competitive with the price.

I'm sure his 'remap pro' is cheaper than a Revo generic map...

Give him a call and tell him i recommended you to him

I got 74.9mpg door to door Stoke to Salford. The M6 waq packed and I spent the first half at in heavy traffic at a steady 55-60mph and then the second half got a bit competitive trying to get the highest mpg I could.
