thermostat conversion

Featured Replies

thermostat broke on my felicia and caused all sorts of problems, so i phoned around some shops, found the part. Was going to cost 38 pound plus vat, having no money i went to the local scrap yards found the same thermostat as mine, unbolted it and all the bits fell out. Trust me to find a broken one but after 30 mins i found another felicia opened the bonnet, the thermostat housing was metal so i unbolted it anyway, went to pay for it 2pounds, got home perfict fit but after getting to running temp it leaked, put old 1 back on. Looking at the part i had got, noticed it had a gascet and that was where it was leaking from, so i went to the tool box made 3 gascets, 2 the same and one with a bigger hole for the thermostat to sit in. Sealed the gascets with a bit of silicone, bolted it on car, done 160 miles with no problems so far and car running loads better, no leaks and if the thermostat fails now it costs 4 pound and a bit of gascet paper to fix not over 40 pound. I will post a picture as soon as i figure out how, or i can send you 1 contact [email protected] and i will email:thumbup:

What did you do about the sensor 'cause the plastic housing one has 4 wires and the aluminium one has 1 wire to it?
