Dashboard Lighting

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Really love the interior of my Fabia, the only thing i think i would like to change is the Dash and dials lighting colour. I loved the dash lights in my old Golf GTi (Blue/Red) but don't think this would suit the car so was going to go fopr the red like the Ibiza.

Any ideas as to what you would need to change them or even if it is possible?

Cheers

J

I believe it's case of cracking it open and re-soldering many, many surface mount LED's. So possible, but worth it?...

Hmmm...

maybe not worth it then. It's not the dash lights are ugly anyway...

Wow someone else with a VRS in Derby haha

were can i buy these surface mount leds i wanna put them in my yoke

You can buy kits for this on ebay and the LEDS from Maplins etc

Id love red or blue lighing - But i wouldnt fancy doing it. Its been done on plenty of other cars, some pieces are harder then others too.

Very possible! If you attempt it and succeed, knock up more sets - I'd gladly pay for someone to do it . . . cant be a**sed doing it myself however!

if i attempt it i will succeed, lol

any links were to get these

Just search on ebay for "dash LED" or something similar!

You'll find loads ;)

thanks alot this looks good and seems cheap?

It does look cheap until you start adding up the options.

They might well be £25 to do the dashpod lighting, but then you have the needles at £35 on top of that and then the various buttons and the stereo on top again. To do it right could be pricey. I just wanted a few doing, but to change them all could start adding up.

Hmmm, interesting. I currently drive a VW Passat which has red lighting on the various dashboard switches etc. The Octavia I've ordered I believe has green lighting for this, although white for the instruments. It would be nice to change the green lights to red but I probably will not be bothered to do so. I'll have to see what it looks like when it's delivered and see how easy it is to just change the green lights which will be simpler than changing the instruments too but maybe the green will look okay.

I did read somwhere of one manufacturer (I think it was American) who provided the facility for the driver to select from a range of colours by an option on the dashboard.

i have all my buttons changed, just haven't got the dash or the heater controls done, they are surface mount leds dunno how to change them, or i would od them in a night
