Hi there just a quick question. My gearbox has developed a nasty whine when in 5th gear does anyone know what this could be and how easy a fix it is.I've already sourced a replacement gearbox but including fitting it's going to cost in the region of £350 so don't really want to spend that if i can avoid it.cheers:)

Don't mean to sound condescending in saying do a search in this forum. There's a few threads on this already and I think a guide by the member pinkskud somewhere. Apparently it's just a lose nut or two and not too difficult to sort out, but you shouldn't drive in 5th until the problem is sorted or you risk needing to use that replacement box.

if its anything like mine a wheel bearing could be on its way out. get it checked

My first thought about your original problem was "loose nut again" too.
