Featured Replies

needs body work (which i will do myself) its going to be candy blue :) hehe and its neva had a oil change for 2 years so going to sort that out 2 gonna be awesome :)

Mine was a freebie too but spent quite a bit of money keeping it on the road. Probably to be expected for a 14 year old car though.

I'd make sure your car has been taken for a run for a bit to let the oil get hot. Think you'll find it will come out the bottom a bit like black treacle :D Don't forget the transmission oil either. That should ideally be changed every 2 years I think Haynes says, so I'll bet that's not been changed in longer. I've not got around to doing mine yet. Make sure you undo the correct bolt as I think a poster here removed the wrong one and it caused some damage somehow.

congrats on your new car, i like the color you are goingto use, i think it enhances the feli, hope i was so lucky

Whats candy blue?

And what engine has your Felly got?

Welcome to club Felicia!!

Start on the engine by:-

1) Drain and refill cooling system.

If the engine sounds tappety, check valve clearances; 20 thou inlets, 25thou exhausts IIRC.

Change air filter.

About 10 mile trip driving fairly gently (no racing, not like your granny).

2) Change oil and filter. Use a cheap correct grade mineral oil. You're about to find out why.

Change spark plugs

3) 500 miles later, change the oil and filter again. You should now have a decent condition engine.

Cptn S; "Candy blue" is a very vivid metallic, normally used by customisers, often in association with Metalflake and/or Flip-Flop.

excuse me, but i've asked on forum for valve clearance and it was specified as 0.25mm inlet and 0.20mm exhaust diference for exhaust and intake is due to diferent metal alloy, and the conversion for metric is 8thou for 0.20mm and 10thou for 0.25mm

i checked on a diferent site and it concorded with this... please reply if im mistaken (since i set my valves the way i specified recently)

Put it down to a mixture of brain fade and my being used to them all being the same or the exhausts being wider!

Wonder if it would be worth putting cheapie diesel oil in for the 500 miles as it has more cleaner additives in.

Dont put diesel oil in, as it will clean the top of the bores too much and you will use oil after doing so---- I know i made that mistake,

on the subject of clearance

20thou would be 0.508mm(ish) and 25thou would be 0.635mm(ish)
