Tyres again

Featured Replies

Our Octy 140 dsg Elegance done 1500o miles on the last set of Bridgestones, now we are coming up to the 30k and there is lots of tread left and i am thinkig of rotating the tyres around. But have heard that they must be only rotated on each side and not crosswise, is there :confused:any truth in this?.

Thats what it says in the manual...

Why would you want to rotate them X wise? I get mine rotated by the garage when i put car in for a service to even up the wear, then get 4 for 3 or whatever deal is going once a year in time for winter.

Only a problem crosswise if they are directional. Can't see a problem otherwise.

I always do an x-rotate (unless directional tread pattern).

On FWD: Lazy axle straight to the front. Drive axle X-Over to the rear. Repeat every 5,000-10,000km.

Very good information about wheels-rims-tires

Car Bibles : The Wheel and Tire Bible Page 1 of 2

On the second page, there is info about rotating tires.

It is a good idea to take a look in the other sections of the site ;).

The 17" tyres on my Sport are directional, so can only change front to back , and not diagonally.

I've read this before; excellent comprehensive advice.
