New Car Tax changes

Featured Replies

Not only have the changes been delayed by a year, they have tinkered with the limits on the bands.

This is the original proposal:

My car has a CO2 rating of 162 g so I was in new band H (161-170) looking at paying £175 next year.

This is the new details:

Where as now I'm now in new Band G (151-165) and it only goes up by the normal £5 to £150

At last some sense was seen as I think 165g is the equivalent of 40mpg and 40 mpg is not gaz-guzzling in my book.

So check your vehicle details to see if the change has affected you.

I was under the impression they were going to shelve the outrageous 2001 backdating, doesn't look as though they are:mad:

Looking at the banding changes there's a fews as well as downs. Fabia Greenline tax up £15 next year.

Wouldn't have made diddly squad for me if I still had the Signum; before and after in L at 415/405 respectively... And besides, what good are these 'reductions' after they devalued your car with thousands of pounds already?

Did you mean down? as it'll be £20 next year.

My car will go from current band B to band C saving me a fiver next year. :)

It's all ****** anyway, I was doing 10k a year in my last car which was band F, in the new car I'll be doing 30k and paying £35/30 a year in tax... clearly helping the environment.:rofl:

woohoo, mines gonna be around £100 cheaper :D

Any ideas on a 2.0FSI 5-speed '07 Octy group?

Mines on lease, and I know it was to go up and monthly payments go up too. From memory looks like it's now slightly less?

I thought it was 109g/km so the first proposal was £20 in 2009-10 but now its £35 in 2009-10 and drops to £20 the year after.

Yup you are correct.. I hadn't read the column headings correctly.

So they've put the tax drops back a year..

My car puts out 119co2s and has 30bhp more than the greenline, don't see the point of these eco-models. :D

Still madness, just slightly revised madness ;)

Bit of a classic trick I think. First put forward some ridiculous hikes, sneakily for all post-2001 cars. Then make some slight reductions in the hope people will think all is well.

Same with fuel costs really; people getting excited now 95RON is under a Pound.

Steve

mine is cheaper!!! its been downgraded and will be 70 quid cheaper next year to the original one and now cheaper than a vrs now they have looked at the brackets again!!

Revised or not I still feel like kicking a penguin.

Anyone who is chuffed about reductions, remember this is just the start of a relentless drive to get us back to the stone age.

Stone Age? No.

Communist Russia? Most Definitely.

Tractor Production up 250% this year

:thumbdwn:

I haven't double-checked my CO2, but from memory I think that my Fabia PD100 is going to cost me £120 next year- I was looking forward to paying £90.

Chuffed.. far from it, I'd much rather be driving around in a large petrol engined car than a TDI any day of the week.

Can anyone remember off hand what the CO2 figures are for the PD105 and PD140 please?

Before Labour ruined the whole economy, was it actually just one figure no matter what car you drove? Just cost you a bit more if you chose 6 months instead of 12?

I have gone from someone who once even voted green (partly protest) to detesting every single green/tax rip off with a passion

I've just read the small print. It seems band 'k' will also include our 2.5 litre X trail registered in 2004.

Seems that even though it is 226 on emissions it goes in a lower band.It refers to cars reg from 01 to 06

Suppose this is to stop the irate 1.1 million car owners whose tax would more than double from £210 to £430

(this help you or not Quinten?)

I was tempted to consider the 2.0 Fsi VRS in a year or two but £425 a year is a joke.

You're right, so it mean they have removed the retrospective gas-guzzler tax where a late-01 mondeo V6 would have cost £400 to tax.

No, cos I no longer having to foot the bill for my tax disc ;)

Agreed.. my last car is going to be £550 by then.

There's only one thing for it... buy an old pre-1973 Dodge Charger or the like. :D

The other option is to go the kit car/low volume manufacturer route as they're taxed like a pre-march 2001 car.

Is the 2.0 TFSI in the top band? I thought it comes in under 200g/km. I would certainly go for this engine rather than the Diesel because of DPF worries.

The vRS is in the new band J which will be £425 by 2010.. But haven't Audi tweaked this engine to produce more power and less co2s?
