Maybe buying a octavia vRS, how does performance change with JABBA?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, new to the forum so go easy on me!

Been looking for a new car and got my eye on a octavia VRS.

I love the car but how much difference will getting the ECU jabba'd do to the performance?? As to be honest i dont think they are very quick standard. My current car is a volvo s70 t5 with RICA ecu remap 310BHP, but the volvo is a big heavy car with crappy handling and has 150k on the clock but still goes extremelly well!!! Does any one know what boost the VRS produces standard and after a jabba remap?? Also i know of a guy who had a audi tt 225bhp which he then 'chipped' to supposidly 300bhp i have been in that car and that was EXTREMELLY QUICK, any one know if there is anywhere that can squeeze more BHP from the VRS?? WITHOUT changing whole exhaust systems, new bigger turbos etc......

The choice is a brand new VRS fro

The infamous Autocar test (remapped car, allegedly) was 6.7 to 60

About 6.5 seems to be the consensus of what us 4x4 owners are acheiving (accurately) solely with a 220/230bhp remap. Similar mid-range 30-70.

... oh, and 34mpg average over the last 1500 miles touring Ireland :)

Tis akin to going from a Sopwith Camel to an F-16 (I'm sure Denis will like that one :D )

It's not all about 0-60 ;)

i bet the VRS does feel slow comapired to a 310 BHP motor regardless of size or handlling, the vrs comes in with a respectable 180BHP standard but thas just over half the power you currently have..id say a remap alone will not satifie your thurst max you will get up to is 240bhp..but this will make a big diffrence.. if you are looking for the same power as the volvo.... the only way is to go into the world of uprgrading zort turbo etc, and you can get the octy up to 400Bhp (so ive heard)

and rember the audi TT is designed as a sports car lighter, lower to ground so will feel VERY quick with 210BHP nevermind 300BHP..!!

I know myself and several other Octy drivers with assorted remaps have little or no trouble with the 225 TT's, so a TT with 210Bhp isn't quick by any standard ;)

(and the TT is a lot heavier than you would think!)

Indeed, tis a lardy beast in 4 wheel drive form.

Anyway, after last week i find it's more pleasing to play with more exotic beasts...

How amused was i to have assorted BMW's & Merc's moving out of my way on the Autobahn
