Sump Guard... Help !!!

Featured Replies

Just spoke to Total VAG  and as many of you are aware the company that made the after market metal sump guard for the Furby no longer exists thanks to the British public over spending. :D

They advised me to look for a Seat Leon Pd130 guard on ebay (ASZ)

Can anybody tell me if this will fit and do the job or not ???

Or if anybody has any other knowledge of who is making these ???

As they seem to be like gold dust and with the roads in West Yorkshire I really could do with one as my car is going lower.

I doubt the Leon one would fit, as it shares no common components with the Fabia.

Thats what I thought but the guy at Total Vag said to have a look

Hi

I have been trying for you my dear

I cannot get the name of the company that did the GB before

I dont know , would anyone who was in on the GB have the name of the company?

I did see something though , I will be back (as Arnie says)

Sarah

No need for a sump guard... the plastic one is good enough.... im on the ground and give it a fair bit of a hammering but the sump is quite a bit higher than the plastic guard ;)

That is IMO and also Skoda didnt feel the need ;)

A plastic cover isn't good enough, and that's the end of it. If you have the misfortune to come down hard on the front of the car, after a dip in the road for example, the plastic won't protect you.

Sarah - Total VAG didn't do the first original batch of Fabia guards. I'll have a dig about- I think I have the details somewhere.

Steve

Sarah - the company was KLM Engineering. KLM Engineering

I've already contacted them enquiring as to the possibility of further production. So I'll update this thread with any news. I don't think there's much point bombarding them with individual enquiries.

Too true Steve

May be worth emailing them with a link to this site showing how many people are interested

Nice one thank you

Sarah

Me n my stainless dude are looking into this  hopefully my car will b goin in next friday for some "investigations" ;)

also gonna see agout my backbox "removal n replace" ;) lol

after destroying my original sump and owning possibly the lowest fabia around, i think a sump guard can only be a good thing.

i could definitely be interested in one should a GB happen.

Will see what i can do when we get it up on the ramps next Friday ;)

To encourage a GB, who would actually want one?

I think originally they were in the £200 mark but I may be wrong. From what I've read on here in the past I think the issue with having them made up is how to secure them properly.

Shouldn't be a problem. As i've said, car's in on friday so we can have a good look

Will post up if we can do it and how much lol :)

If you want proper, secured fixing points, it might be a bit more difficult than you imagine. The standard points aren't designed to take the extra weight of a metal guard.

Steve

We'll think of something ;)

Take it you decided against the boost pipe, Wardy? :)

It was just to let you know that there's already been a fair few attempts at this, that's all. So might be a bit more difficult than you'd imagine :)

Boost pipe - wasn't overly impressed with the quality I'm afraid. And then the feedback about the welds didn't inspire confidence either, especially given the pipe's purpose.

Steve

Thats cool, we'll give it a shot

In regards to the boost pipe, i've had NO issues at all and as i've already said, the "welded line" is more function than form. Each to their own i suppose :P lol lol
