changing the dipped beam bulb on fab vrs

My low beam/dipped beam failed over the weekend and was quite pleased that although it happened, i was given a warning on the dash about it. How easy is it to change the bulb? is it a H7?

i read the manual and it says a professional needs to fit it.As apparently it is life threatening (thats what the manual says)

I used to be able to change bulbs on my escort mk 6 without problems.

Hi Newskoda

Do you beleive every thing you read ? No ! Good

If they are normal lamps (bulbs) then yes they are H7 (Just changed mine) and quite easy you just need slim hands to get into the back of the lamp holder, First turn off the lights, unclip the cover, pull off the connector off the lamp, unclip the spring clip from the back of the lamp, and pull out the lamp, and replace in reverse order, but Don't touch the glass of the new lampas this will burn it out quicker.

If you have HID's the best way is to remove the whole fitting from the car, and as I said switch off the lights at the switch, as these might kill you ! apporx 22,000 Volts but once switched off you will be fine, but these are special lamps, in other words a lot dearer although I have just picked a pair up for my son-in-law for £30 + P&P again don't touch the glass of any lamp, if you do clean with a soft cloth and thinners (let dry before turning on) and make sure all connections are clean and tight and then refit the whole fitting and it should work, if not its the ballast (and thats another story)

hey thanks for the replies!

i've seen osram silverstar and "nightbreaker" bulbs on sale for about £20 a pair. But these are xenon bulbs. Bit confused as to how they can be called xenon when looking at the pic on autobulbsdirect...these bulbs clearly have a filament.
