Leaky Felicia windscreen help

Featured Replies

Only recently joined Briskoda.net so if this post is in the wromng place - apologies.

After people have been so helpful on Briskoda.net I thought I might offer some help for a leaky windscreen problem on a felicia........

I have just suffered with this very problem. After studying the many posts on here re this I decided to try and seal the windscreen properly. (I was never sure that the windscreen was leaking but from what the friendly Skoda dealer said and posts on here I decided to seal the screen anyway as it would be the most likely candidate.

After a bit of research I discovered a sealant manufacturer. They are AB Sealants

SPECIALISTS SEALANTS, ADHESIVES, FOAMS, COLOURED SILICONES

I contacted their technical department and was told that they sold a sealant which was perfect for the job. It is called 'seal-once'.

AB Sealants Ltd

I ordered it, it arrived a couple of days later and I have done now done the job. I must say I did inject quite a lot of sealant into the bottom corners before it began oozing out.

The sealant is very sticky but also flexible and certainly smells and looks convincing. It is especially designed to function in wet and dirty conditions.

All I can say is if any water gets through the windscreen seal now it will be very lucky!

This is just for evryone's info

Thanks Thomas, it's a good price too.

Keep us updated on its effectiveness.

You asked for an update(and any others interested)

Well.....Success!! Everything seems to be drying out nicely now, despite the awfully wet weather we are having at the moment.

So I would def recommend this sealant (I'm not connected with them, I just wanted proper professional stuff rather than the proprietary stuff fom the DIY stores etc.).

So, I hope I am back to trouble free motoring again. (I hope!!)

does that sealant cure or does it stay wet the reason i ask is i,ve just had my windscreen replaced(brick from a skip lorry) and it now leaks took it back and they applied black sealant which stays wet . worked well until i pressure washed the car and now the leaks back:thumbdwn:

The stuff I used appeared to be a mixture of clear silicon sealant and (smelt like) an epoxy resin). It does go off but remains flexible and soft to the touch but it also glues itself into place. The description could be better but I am sure you get the idea......If you got it on your clothes you wouldn't be able to get it off.

I looked at it again today and it has fully cured..

It definitely sorted my problem

I hope this helps

How much was it?

Yeah how much sounds good

Why not click on the link in the first post ;)

The good thing about this sealant is that it can be applied in wet conditions, most sealants will only work if all inner surfaces are dry, unlikely at this time of year.

I've used 'Seek'n'Seal' (from Comma) on several more or less rusty old motors, windscreens and sunroofs, over the years. It's ever so cheap (£5 tin treats at least a dozen cars and it seems to have indifferent shelf life), ever so easy to apply and works well.

Apparently this is no longer made according to this page, Seek and Seal = Capt. Tolley’s Creeping Crack Cure - Volvo Owners Club Forum and they recommend something called Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure

Hi there,

I think I may be having the same problem - water is getting in and the car is wet under the dash at the wheel wells on both driver and passenger sides. Is this a symptom of a leaking windscreen, or is there another possible reason?

(sorry for the thread hi-jacking!)

Check to see if the soundproofing up behind the dash is wet. If it is it's a surefire bet your problem is the windscreen seal.

It is wet under the dash, down a bit from the line of the a pillar. Pulled out the bucket from the glove box and had a grope, but it is dry in there...

It is almost as if water is running in from the wheel wells, or from the bonnet and is getting in somehow.

Will take it to a garage shortly and ask them for any clues, need to do an oil change anyways :o

I thought I might contribute to this thread in addition to my original message.......In my experience a lot of these mysterious leaks into footwells can be attributed to blocked drainage tubes that a lot of car seem to have hidden away right in the upper, inner corner of the wings (one each side). Does anyone know if the Felicia has these? I did look for these on mine but couldn't see any.
