Octavia noise with engine off

Featured Replies

1.When i turn the key in the 2nd position, not sure how it's called(That one before the engine start),some noises can be heard, some pumps or something, the xenon "calibration",and the seatbelt warning. After 5-6 seconds all these noises are gone except one.I can hear a noise like a pump(that rattle is not very loud),but it doesn't stop even if I'm keeping the key in that position for 10 minutes...that noise will be there forever. Is it normal?I asked at the dealer but they said it's some kind of a pump.I tried this on an Octavia II and on an Audi A4,but in both of them, after 4-8 seconds all these noises are gone.

1.9 Tdi,90bhp,ALH engine.

2.I have a whistle that can be heard at high speed. It's not the turbo of course  This night I opened the window, and I could hear the noise even at low speeds.Could it be caused by the wipers?I changed them about 2 months ago and I first noticed the sound about 1 month ago.

Also,I found who was causing the rattle when my engine was at 2000 rpm.It was that stick that holds the bonnet when you lift it.It was touching that big metal panel between the headlights.

1. not sure myself, but probably fuel pump.

2. could be a wheel bearing on the way out...

1.yes,the fuel pump , that what the dealers told me, but i was not sure if it's supposed to be on non-stop

2. It's not a bearing, the noise is coming from the windshield
