First 1000 Miles

Featured Replies

Had my Roomster for 2 weeks now and just gone over 1000 miles.

Its a Roomster 2 1.6 16 V Tiptronic in Cappacino, an ex- Skoda Uk car registered in April but with only 178 miles on it when I bought it.

It's replaced a 'V' reg Octavia SLX Auto which I had for 4 years and joins my wifes 08 plate Fabia 2 1.1 12V HTP - which in turn repalaced her 'R' plate Felicia she had from new.

First impressions are very good, last wekend had a good trial, 230 miles up the motorway (5.5 hours - lots of road works :thumbdwn:), a run across the Yorkshire Moors on B roads and up and down some very steep hills. Run along the coast and some town driving return trip on the motorway and averaged 37.9mpg.

Nice comfortable relaxing car to drive, excellent radio that locks well onto a station and keeps it for a long time. Did a few miles in the back seat with the wife driving and mother in the front and was very pleased with comfort and visibility.

Couple of little niggles - don't like the 'wipe first/squirt after' on the front screen, when there is a lot of salt on the screen it smears everything first and I would guess it will eat wiper blades with gritty dust in the summer. I bought one of the cover things to go between parcel shelf and back seats as I quite often have tools in the boot but if I have centre seat down as armrest it's not long enough to fill the gap so have to put the seat back up if I park anywhere dodgy (in Middlesbrough at the weekend - say no more)

Next job is to re-fit the Parrot from my old car, just need a dry warm day :rofl::rofl:

Cool. Always great to hear of people going from Felicias and MKI Octavias into the newer models. Glad your enjoying your new cars!

37.9mpg is good going for such a new car with the 1.6 engine and the Tiptronic.

Just done the first 1k in mine too, after a run from the Midlands up to Lincoln for a short break (nice area to visit!)... engine was quite stiff at first and only got 45mpg, but now on its third tank and was on just over 50 at the last refil (the computer showing an optimistic 55, btw!).

Talking of wiper blades, they are strange things on the Roomie, no metal bits, just a long piece of (reinforced?) rubber! Seem to work ok, though... that rear one is far better than the Fabia estate I had before... probably due to the water squrting from below rather than above, I don't have to keep putting the rear ones on to clear the drips!
