Squeak noise!

Featured Replies

Hey, My 1.9 tdi fabia has started to make a squeak noise over big speed bumps or holes in the road. Sounds like its coming from the front underneath the car! Possibly something to do with suspension?! Doesnt sound particually bad just wondered what it could be?! If you slow right down then the noise isnt made.

Thanks for any help/advice.

Mine does it mate, I just put it down to the wet weather and lots of deep puddles.

Cold probably plays a part too, making the rubber less pliable.

Only really started doing it since all this rain started.

Had a mate look at it on his ramp, but the bushes etc are fine, I just turn the radio up a bit :rofl:

Just keep an eye on it, I think banging from the suspension is worse than squeaking!

What year is the car? Earlier models have poor anti roll bar end stops, that used to slip and cause the ARB to shift. Also check condition or ARB bushes and consul bushes (Rear of wishbone)

2002, yup, check the ARB stops either side of the bushes. If you get rust on the ARB the plastic end stops break as the ARB metal expands with rust.

I dose all bushes with white PTFE spray grease before winter, not just on the VRS but the Moggy Traveller as well.

Don't think it will be the old crap ARB thing - even if it looks like your car left the factory with one of them fitted. When the ARB stops crack/split etc, the ARB tends to "walk" across until the cranked ends clatter off the outer edge of the console - and that is just a bit noisy!

I had the same problem.

Cold weather deffo exacerbates the situation, but I did find a cure (similar to one noted above): creak-b-gone-no-more

Usually either, though the C-B-G from the former tends smell of Boudoir de Tart.

A can of 'Three-In-One with PTFE' spray can also be used at a push.
