Unlock code for mfd

Featured Replies

Got hold of the original mfd unit for my vrs at a very good price and am now just waiting for the 'plug-and-play-kit' to arrive.

One thing I don't have is the 4 digit unlock code, skoda have told me they can do it, but I need to take it in to them (my nearest dealer is about 40 minutes away) and will charge me an hours labour.

Could anyone recommend an online alternative?

I don't think you'll find an online alternative. Not everything in life can be online!!

If you remove the unit you should see a number which begins SKC on a sticker. If you get this number and also your vehicle chassis number they 'may' give you the code over the phone.

Thanks for the reply stu, and for your guide to fitting an mfd which inspired my purchase!

I don't think calling the dealer will work as the unit didn't come with my car and therefore the serial number won't match the chassis number. when I contacted the dealer they said that they would need to remove the system and plug it into a pc. I don't have a problem with paying skoda for the code, just that it's such a small job I don't really want to have to take the day off to get it done!

That's why I wondered whether someone like unlockmycarradio could do it, but their guide to Blaupunkt serial numbers doesn't match the layout of the mfd serial.

Alternatively, I've just found a local car audio specialist who list unlock codes as one of their services so I'll give them a call.

The chassis number isn't used to calculate the PIN but more a security feature. The PIN is calulated using the SKZ number.

Yikes!

That local place I found have just quoted me £95 + VAT for unlocking the unit!

Waiting for a response from skoda.

Just turn up at the dealer with it. I did a while ago and got it sorted FOC.

It only takes a few mins for them to type the code in :)

Skoda wont give it out over the phone i can guarntee that as i had to get mine ages ago. You have to go in and it takes about 10 mins to do. You could find a friendly skoda worker who could go on elsa to get it but if caught could get them into a lot of trouble.
