octavia vrs problem

Featured Replies

[email protected]. Hi Ihave a skoda octavia vrs 51plate and the accelerator has stopped working. I have connected a diagnostics on it and got a new throttle pedal as that was the fault showing up but no joy. when you press the break and then release the car revs up. to stop the reving press the break. skoda had the car for 3 weeks and couldnt sort it. they thought it could be the engine ecu but couldnt guarantee it would sort in. there price was £855 to supply and fit. to much to gamble on. there not a great dealership obviously. could anyone please help me

Welcome.

Do you know the fault codes.

Welcome to briskoda

Mmm Skoda love to say it is ECU all the time , but dont always cure the fault

Could be a couple of things I would have thought

There is a throttle sensor somewhere , but dont think it is the pedal as such

I would have thought more likely to be an electrical fault myself , may end up needing an electrical technician :( sorry

But welcome and hope that you get sorted

May be worth getting it to Lummox as he is the techhie?

Welcome to Briskoda!

Try posting this problem in the Octy I forum for a better response.

I would image the dealer has explored all the possiblities and has come to the conclution that the ECU is the problem. Where are you based and are there any independant VAG garages near you that could help?

welcome

Hiya.

You might or might not know this, but most Octys have sensors that cut the power when you brake. the first thing I'd check is whether or not the brake lights work, and if they don't change the brake light switch!

Hope you get it sorted.

Hi everyone thanks for your comments and help, I have tried the break switch already but that would be to simple. There is another sensor but apparently the right feed is going to and from it. I dont know the fault codes but i have decided to take it to a auto electrician today, but i have my doubts this will be resolved anytime soon.
