Spongey brakes on Roomy 1.9TDI

Featured Replies

Is it me or is this version a little long on pedal travel? I get good response with moderate pressure but to stop quickly requires a very long push - so much so I was caught out approaching a roundabout. Theres not a lot of bite to it either. Was wondering whether to get it checked at the dealer. My focus seemed a lot more responsive.

I have a 1.9tdi Scout and I 've had the same problem, total different to the Octavia.

Same here on my "3"

You get used to them.

Mine are fine... not too sudden and not too spongy...

My brakes have been brilliant on the Roomster and I came from quite a serious set up on my VRS.

Let me just add, my brakes work fine, stop fine.

Just the pedal feels different to the Fabia, which are quite sharp.

Yep, would concur with the above assessment. However I too came from a modified brake setup on my Octavia. The two cars are chalk and cheese so I'm really not worried by it. But it did catch me at a junction for a moment.

Nothing I'm worried by, but I would like a firmer feel. No doubt after tree years I'll be adjusted :). Already converted to the roomy, love it, so relaxing.

Thanks Colin (and all). Its probably just a matter of acclimatisation. The 1.9TDI engine is a heavy lump (I tested the 1.6 petrol as well) but it still manages to handle brilliantly, just takes a bit more stopping I guess! I love everything else about my Roomie including the arm rest and cruise control! How did I ever manage without them? Also bearing in mind I use mine more as a van with seats rather than a people carrier, it does a pretty excellent job in both respects. Great car. If it was an animal I think it would be a camel :)

You Sir are not wrong...

Just got to finish up some more fixes before deploying the code and running to the roomy for a nice mellow drive home.
