Wing Mirrors

Featured Replies

Can anybody help me I was in Aldershot yesterday with my beloved VRS got out did some shopping when I got back in I adjusted the drivers mirror and found that as I did this the passenger one moved aswell but yet when I adjust the passenger one it's fine. This has never happened before. So a bit dubious as to what is wrong. The car is only 18 months old.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is how they are supposed to work! It is so you can adjust both to avoid glare from low sun etc and because the positions do need to change together - think of the reasosn and it makes perfect sense. A standard feature which you must never have noticed before - did you think to take a look in the manual!

D'oh! Someone beat me to it!

This confused me when I first got my black VRs. It's a ridiculous featured IMO.

Thanks everyone. Maybe I just had a blonde moment thanks very much.

Next one does anyone know where I can get a jumbo box from and is it possible to fit aftermarket????

I was under the understanding that this feature could be disabled in Vag-com?

Vag-Who????????

Vag-Who????????

The computer thingy that can be adjusted with the right cables and software.

VAG-COM or VCDS as it is now known is a computer diagnostics program for VW, AUDI, SEAT, and SKODA Cars. it's a very useful tool for fault finding, changing settings, or reseting your service intervals etc it's available from ROSS-TECH Here Ross-Tech: Home . Thers are lots of members with this equipment if you look on the VAG-COM Owners Map Here http://briskoda.net/diagnostics-vag-com/vag-com-owners-map/80992/ . Find someone in the list close to where you are and PM them and i'm sure any member will more than happy to help you. When you get access to VCDS this is where you need to look. 46 CENTRAL CONVENIENCE. BYTE 9, BIT 6, SYNCHRONIZE MIRROR ADJUSTMENT. BIT 7, MIRROR LOWERING WITH REVERSE GEAR (ONLY WITH MEMORY SEATS). HTH

Craig.......

It's a great feature, just wait until you have the low sun in both mirrors and can easily adjust them, togehther, to get rid of the blinding glare. Also when you change drivers they usually have to adjust both, up, down , in or out, So doing it in one saves so much time and trouble.

Hotdog, if you play with the switch (full rotation counter or clockwise, can't remember now) you'll find you can disable the twin motion and adjust each one. Otherwise there should be an option available from maxidot (if you have one).

HTH

It's a great feature

No it's not. It's only beaten in the uselessness stakes by the 'courtessy wipe' on the windscreen wipers.

The auto wiper function is fairly useless I reckon - it's such a fun game waiting to see when they're gonna come on, even when the rain is hammering onto my screen.

As for the dual adjust electric mirror - the function can be disabled in Maxidot menu.

Many thanks for all that advice but have a slight problem I was talked out of getting the Maxidot by the dealer personally I wish I had bought it. Is there anyway of fitting it after market.

Being able to adjust both mirrors together is an excellent feature. It makes reversing into parking spaces, garages etc., simple and assured. The number of people who ask me how I always get my car central in the parking spaces in the works car park speaks for itself. Mind you I just tell them it's the benefit of advanced driver training. :)

If mines does this then i've never noticed. Must say i am in the 'pointless feature' camp though. If i get into the car and set one mirror, then set the other and find that the first one has now changed, i will find this not only pointless but irritating too!

It does. It says that you either have very odd parking spaces or very odd colleagues :D

I like the twin mirror feature. My wife and I swap cars all the time so its nice to set the drivers mirror and know that the other one is OK too. Bearing in mind I dont usually remember to set the mirror till im off down the road :o

I know I know. I too am "cursed" with the ability to park perfectly - I actually get tired of the sheer volume of positive reviews of my parking style :orb_tai_c

A friend of mine is a member of IAM - I've never known anyone have so many "near misses". Maybe pushing it to the limit everywhere isn't such a great plan?

BTW first thing I did in maxidot was turn off the bl00dy movement of both mirrors at once.....

Could be disabled via pulling the wires out of the switch!

Obviously get them to where you want them first - this is also a great anti-wife device

to OP my mirrors do the same, so im guessing its normal.
