shaking

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I remaped my car it got now 163bhp

But whin i drive 60km/u in 5th and push the metal to the bottem the engine or somthing starts to shake in 6t shakes to when i push to the metal,

it just started after the remap does anyone know what it could be?

the clutch or something?

Dual Mass Flywheel, I bet - search on here for DMF. 40 mph is too slow for 5th really, and definitely too slow for 6th. It may be OK if you avoid accelerating hard at low speeds in high gears in future, but otherwise a new flywheel could be on the cards... :o

so if i go back to 130bhp the shaking is gone stop?

yes i know its to slow but its strange that it happens after the remap.

so i geuss its because there is too much torque?

No, it can happen at standard tune as well. As I say, if you're unlucky, it may already be too late, but otherwise, you should remember to change down a gear or two when you want to accelerate. I'd personally never use 5th under 80km/h, and 6th under about 100-110km/h. This will vary slightly, depending on whether you have the older gearbox or the newer one (changed a bit before the facelift).

As I say, 60km/h is just too slow to be trying hard acceleration in 5th gear. You must only be doing around 1500rpm. If I was trying to accelerate hard from that speed, I'd be in 3rd...

No if you stop changing up a gear too early it will stop.

The remap might be pants depending on who did it. A good remap will spread the torque over a wider rev band. I'm betting this 'shake' is nothing more than low rev lugging the engine, which as good drivers know is very bad

That's another possibility. 163bhp from a remap is pretty poor - I reckon my Dragon Box gives me more than that, based on others' dynos. Unless he means at the wheels, in which case it's probably the car in fear for its life! :D

I dont know if you guys know the company but i did it at Vtune belgium.

I hope the clutch isent ruend thursday i am going back to 130hp.

I think its to mutch for the engine.

Its only made for 130 isnt it?

Unless it's a different company sharing the same name, VTune are perfectly reputable as far as I know. Seriously, you don't need to put it back to 130bhp. The standard clutch will cope with 170-180bhp fine as long as you drive sympathetically. Keep it in 3rd up to 65km/h, 4th up to 80 and 5th up to 100-110km/h. Don't throw good money after bad, just learn to drive better!

i dont know, Vtune is from the same as in holland and england it only cost me 300 euro but they got no rollerbank. they told me its got 165hp and 395N/m torque

i have 5 days to get my money back and put it back to standard what would you do?

Its just strange that it shakes so hard . before it was remapped i drove like that to and he didnt shake.(he shaked but in an other way)

Maybe ive go first to the skoda dealer and ask him what he thinks it is.

Its simple, its shaking as now it has more torque so is putting more load on the clutch and more importantly the flywheel.

All you have to do is change your driving style a little, doing what you were doing even on a standard engine would not be good for the flywheel anyhow.

Had my remap done about a month ago, no shaking of flywheel.

Even before the remap I made a point of not flooring it below 2k in 2nd - 5th, and dont floor it at all in 6th.
