i took my octy vrs into msb darlington for a service today and got chatting to one of the salesmen about the new superb and he told me that next year there will be a vrs version of the superb it will have a 4 liter engine the same thats in the audi rs6.

has anyone heard of about this.

I think he was spinning you one, not least since the RS6 has a 5.0l twin turbo engine! Realistically, even if they did make one (right after the Fabia II vRS, eh? ), the fact it's based on the Octy / Golf / A4 platform rather than the Passat / A6 platform of the old one, and the down-kitting of Skoda w.r.t Audi makes me think the best you could hope for would be the 4.2l V8 from the current S4, or maybe the 3.0l supercharged engine out of the upcoming one...

Definitely talking out of his backside. Firstly, the RS6 has never been a 4 litre. The old one was 4.2 twin turbo V8 (and I mean old - came out in 03) and the new one is a 5.2 twin turbo V10.

If indeed the Superb is based on the Golf platform (and I don't think it would be the A4 platform - that's the Golf 4 platform) then you are stuck with transverse engines - any of the tasty engines in the VAG lineup are longitudinal which just won't fit which means for any of the range (Octavia and Superb) the best you're looking at is the S3/TT-S engine (2.0T 265bhp) or the 3.6 (is that already available?).

Next time you're in there, ask him to tell plausible lies if he's going to lie at all please

RS6 engine and gearbox won't fit in the Superb anyway, neither 5.2 V10 or 4.2 V8 version will fit.

The 3.6 V6 is available now.

I very much doubt they'll offer a more powerful one, they may offer a new Sport model or something which will have nice wheels, bodykit, different seats but the chance of them putting anything more powerful in are pretty minimal.

Go back to MSB and ask him if you can put a deposit on one...

Oh , I dunno about that! If they made it with similar performance to the Passat R36 but undercutting it on price by a good bit , it would sell as a niche product.

They have, Almost....the 3.6 Elegance. Its only slightly down on power compared with the R36, but its cheaper too and better kitted.

Buy one a year old when/if you can find one, for ~50% of that!
