I own an 07 octavia rs . In 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th gear there is on problem car reaches 180 km/h easily then in 5th gear as i am about to reach 200 km/h the handbrake sign begins to beep and keeps beeping until i slow under 200 km . Please help . What can be the problem . I have to admit that my car is 28.000 miles and i have never had such kind of problem before.

Are you sure it is the handbrake beep, and not the speed warning?

never had any sort of beep on mine, and i have had my speedo way over that.

There is a speed warning you can set yourself, maybe accidentally, I cant actually remember how it's done now....in the maxidot somewhere. Just thought it could be that

its quiet possible that the beep is a requirement in your local market and it may not be possible to disable.

No mate. After trying again I realize that the beep only comes when i get past 200-210 km/h. Can it be because of my winter tyres ?

IIRC theres something about a winter tyres option in maxidot, maybe thats the reason for it.

Thanks everybody for your kind replies. I talked to a technician today and low brake hydraulic fluid level seems to cause the problem. I will be taking my car to service tomorrow. We'll see what happens
