play in front wheels

Featured Replies

been having ongoing probs with my front wheels.

Today i jacked the car up and there is side to side play in the wheels, feels like loose bearings, tried to torque them up to stop the play but they are at their required torque settings.

does the car normally have this play or are my bearings shot?

there are no unusual noises to be heard

thanks for any advice

andrew

Side to side play is possibly a worn wishbone bush.

:iagree: check the bigger rear bush on the front control arm as thats the one that fails causing the symptoms you describe

wishbone bush is fine, all other bushes are fine, shocks are fine also

Try the end of the rack

I was going to say side to side is usually the tie rod on the rack.

I had this same problem turned out to be the rack end was worn. easy job to change and just changed the trackrod end at the same time.

didn't say that there's play when wobbling top and bottom of wheel (and any other opposite sides)
